Lesson 01: Grammar

Hello there loves! This lesson will be all about grammar! Yes I know, many of you are probably still in school and probably know the basics of grammar. Like punctuation, commas, quotations, etc. But I see there are some writers out there who don't use any of these at all, and that really surprises me. But Fanfiction is not your regular school essay assignment, so I'm not going to be harsh on you and give you an 'F' if you spell 'alot' instead of 'a lot. So I want you to chill, and keep these rules in mind when creating an FanFiction.

Quotation

Quotation is very important when putting dialogue in your story, or in any situation. And there's different types of dialogue, there's 1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person, and also what I like to call 'script writing'. Here are all the examples to give you a good overview on each and every one of them.

1st Person

"So, what are you doing" I asked Connor, "you look tired".

"Oh, Troye, I didn't see you there"! Connor bubbles.

2nd Person (this is mostly used in imaginative fanfics)

"So, what are you doing" you asked Connor, "you look tired".

"Oh, Troye, I didn't see you there"! Connor bubbles.

3rd Person

"So, what are you doing" Troye asked Connor, "you look tired".

"Oh, Troye, I didn't see you there"! Connor bubbles.

Script Writing

Troye: So, what are you doing

Connor: (looks back with a little jump and smiles) Oh, Troye, I didn't see you there!

Always Read Your Work

It's important to read your work before you publish it onto the internet. Because there will be people commenting about your errors instead of your work. Even read it out loud so it sounds right, or get a friend, sister, or close fanfiction writer on wattpad to read it and let them give their thoughts about the grammar(not the story). And if you're to uncomfortable someone reading it, (if it's smut I get it) than you might as well find a voice reader or something like Siri to read your story out loud so you can know what it sounds like. If you do this, it will be very easy to know your mistakes.

If It Doesn't Sound Right...

There are some sentences which sound like a tongue twister more than a actual sentence. So if you think it sounds off or if it sounds a little bit weird, change the sentence. But if the sentence still bothers you, don't even try to change, just keep moving on with your story.

A/N: I want to talk about describing things because it's part of grammar(mostly). But I decided that I might do it for another lesson. But NEXT lesson will be about realistic thinking, which is a big part in fanfiction writing. I'm going to work on the next lesson now so I hope this helps you a little bit. If this doesn't than I guess you're either ready for the next lesson or you just plain out already an expert of fanfiction. But seriously, the next lesson is legit important. Bye Xx
