The band building was behind the school with it's own parking lot and a mark up of the football field.

I almost skipped to the band building which was my last class of the day, because that was the only class I had with Luke and I was pretty excited about that! Saving the best for last!

I cannot tell you how much I love playing my alto saxophone in band, it made me feel like I was actually good at something, like I had a purpose.

In sixth grade when I was choosing what instrument to play, an adorable, scrawny kid walked up to me while I was looking at the list and the instruments on display at the front of the room.

"I'm gonna play the alto saxophone." He said with a grin pointing to the shiny gold instrument on the stand in front of me. "What about you?"

"I don't know yet," I said nervously looking at the long piece of silver in front of me.

"Why don't you play what I'm playing?" He said, he walked up to me and grabbed the ID around my neck and he immediately started to laugh.

I jacked the ID back from him.
"The pictures not THAT bad!" I said crossing my arms and looking down at my shoes I turned on my heel to walk away.

"Im just kidding, it's actually pretty cute," he said trying to stop me.

"It said your name was Hazel, may I call you Haze, someone like you deserves an awesome nickname." He said grabbing my elbow.

I looked down at his hand still touching me.
"But you don't even know me, how do you know what I deserve?"

"I can just tell by looking at you," he said turning back to the saxophone on the stand.

"Well then, sure, I guess if you can tell just by looking at me, who am I to stop you?" As soon as I said this I heard the music teacher call me.

"Hazel, what instrument have you chosen?"

"My name is Luke, by the way," he said holding out his hand with a smile.

Me and Luke have been friends ever since. But  since he started dating Samantha, he doesn't talk to me as much. You see, she thinks I'm trying to steal Luke away from her so she forbids him from seeing me.

I was almost to the band building when I saw a man in all black clothes in the band parking lot with a camera in his hand. I stopped to look at him, he smiled which gave me chills up and down my spine. Then he raised his camera to his eye and snapped a picture.

Then he simply turned around as if it were normal and proceeded to walk to his car.

Panicking, I turned around and ran to the band hall.

As soon as I walked into the band hall I bumped into someones hard body at the door.

"Woah, Haze slow down, you look like you just saw a ghost." Luke said with a concerned look on his face, his saxophone already around his neck.

Panting, I looked up and told him what happened while I was walking to class.

"Oh that was probably the new photographer that came to take pictures around the school for the school website. He just left here to take some of the band hall, he probably was just taking a picture of the outside," he said fixing his reed to his mouthpiece

"Really, oh okay then," I said relieved, taking a deep breath, I got myself together and went to go get my instrument.

"Come on!"

Briana said as she drove up in a convertible after school.

Oh yeah, did I mention that Brianas' mom was rich. Her mom found early success in the fashion industry and is now editor-in-chief at one of the most prestigious magazines in the world, lets just say it rhymes with Togue.

"When the heck did you get this?" I said as I hopped into the car.

"Oh, a couple of days ago, I came back from Paris with my mom and my dad had this waiting for me in the driveway. I guess he was trying to make up for the fact that he ran off to New York with the maid or something but it's whatever."
Looking through Snapchat stories on her phone before picking a song for the Bluetooth.

"Well at least you have a dad." I said looking out the window.

My dad died of a brain tumor when I was seven so it's just been my mom, my sister and me all these years. I barely even knew him, I missed him more than words could ever say.

"Lets take this pity party to my house for ice cream and pizza!" She said putting the top down with and excited scream.

We drove to her house singing along to Adele the entire way, and then I saw it.

The black car, this time wasn't across the street or in the parking lot in front on my school, it was in Briana's driveway.
