This is my inspiration song for this chapter! I hope you enjoy
~Chaos 💜Mom freaked out so much she almost made a trip to the hospital before she took us to school, but thankfully I convinced her otherwise.
Mainly because our car didn't even get hit but, also because I desperately needed to see boy who shall not be named, but I of course, kept that minuscule detail to myself.
My mom pulled up to the front of the school.
"I can't believe both my girls are in high school now!" She said, grabbing my sisters hand and reaching to the back of the car to try to grab my hand. My sister rolled her eyes but didn't pull away."Hazel, promise me, you won't leave Danielle by herself until class. She's a Freshman, she could get lost or something."
"I'm sitting right here Mom, and I don't need a babysitter." Danielle whined getting out of the car.
"I promise, but I think she'll be fine." I said giving my mom a small peck on the cheek with a smile.
I hopped out of the car and ran to catch up with my sister.
We walked into the school side by side.
"Those over there are the ninth-grade lockers. You get your lockers assigned to you in home room." I said as I pointed to the ninth grade lockers, she immediately ran over to find her friends and judging from the black t-shirt, the torn black jeans, and the heavy black makeup she wore, her friends wouldn't be hard to spot.Well so much for our little tour..
Word had spread about the almost fender bender apparently, there were some kids outside near our house walking to the bus stop who saw the entire thing. As expected from any nosy high schooler, they told everyone a very different story.
I walked to the twelfth grade lockers and my best friend Briana pulled me in for a hug.
"Oh my poor Hazey Wazey, are you okay?" She said while squeezing me tightly. Briana was always super dramatic, it's part of her "theatric persona." Or at least that what's she repeatedly tells us.
"I would be much better if you let go of me!" I said as my air passageways were crushed by the hug.
"Ugh, you never let me love you! I almost lost you today, didn't I?" She said through fake tears.
"Umm, no, our car wasn't even hit, nothing happened, I'm completely fine." I said matter-of-factly.
Then my friend Natalie pushed her aside and kissed me on the cheek and told me she loved my outfit, followed by a rough side hug from my other friend Emily who's crazy light brown hair looked like she ran a mile even though she hadn't even gone to class, like always. I moved over to Brianas' locker.
"Anyway , I was meaning to talk to you guys, well just somebody about the almost accident." I said.
"What about it?" Briana said while staring at her face in her compact mirror.
"Well I kind of saw the guy before and I could've sworn he looked right at me before I happened. I mean Briana, I think he tried to hit us on purpose." I said, chills flowing up and down my spine. I looked back at Briana who was obviously not paying attention, now fixing her smokey eye shadow.
Before I could say anything the boy who shall not be named, walked up to me and pulled me in for a hug.
I wrapped my arms around the muscular figure and breathed in his scent, hoping to never let go.
He let go too soon and I tried to hide my disappointment. He held both of my hands in his as we parted.
"Hey, Luke," I said holding his steady gaze with mine.
"I heard about what happened, are you alright? How are your mom and sister?" But before I could even answer, Briana noticing my weirdness strolled up and separated us. "She's fine, Luke, the car didn't even hit them, the new freshman were just being dramatic." She said in a monotone then she gave me her mama bear look and walked away.
Luke had changed over the summer, his t-shirt he usually wore was replaced with a blue button down with a black leather jacket and his normal ripped jeans were replaced with nice blue jeans.
He had lost all his baby weight and he looked more fit, muscular. I'm guessing his new girlfriend has been keeping busy.
When she left, Luke pushed his long dark hair out of his hazel-green eyes and said kind of nervously, "Well, I'm glad you're alright." Then he smiled and I jumped a little when the bell started to ring, he gave me a quick wink and said, "See you in band later, Haze."
I melted and looked down at my schedule then began my trek to my first class AP Statistics, I looked at my phone to check the time and noticed a red light on my phone going on and off by the camera. Immediately I had a flashback to this morning when my laptop camera.
Weird, I' m just leaving every camera on today.
When I passed the window I stopped in my track. Could it really be? No, I pushed the thought away. There's no way I could see the same exact black car twice in a row. I was just being paranoid.
Oh boy did I wish I was right..
