"Matthew," Emil carefully began, wincing slightly, "I think you must be deranged or something. werewolves don't exist." There was a sudden change in Matthew's eyes that went from serious and concerned to outright unimpressed. He scowled and stepped back from Emil in disgust.

"Emil Steilsson," Matthew began, crossing his arms firmly over his chest. His voice wobbled slightly as it did when the kid got mad. "Of the many things I think you are, I've never taken you to be one to call people crazy." Emil exhaled heavily at Matthew's comment. It couldn't have been true. All of the stories about the supernatural world his brother told him were just stories. They had to be. Matthew must have been one of those crazy people who believes in those stories, or he was just seriously unhinged.

"Well don't come whining to me with your tail between your legs when you realise that I was right," Matthew stated, turning around and shuffling away with his head lowered. Even though his body language appeared to be defeated, he still somehow seemed to be the one walking away with their dignity intact.

Emil watched Matthew slowly disappear back into the school building as other students slowly poured out of the school building onto the oval and into the courtyards for recess. Emil pushed himself off the tree that Matthew had pushed him against earlier and began to slowly wander back into the school building against the stream of students, completely unable to take his mind off what Matthew had said. The whole concept was just unhealthy to think about, and if he thought about it long enough, some sort of placebo-hypochondriac ridiculousness would occur and he would act like he was a werewolf and then get put into an insane asylum.

"Em!?" Emil heard his friend Leon call out from behind him as he approached his locker. "Why are you so late?" He asked. Emil turned around with a look of innocent confusion on his face. Leon cocked his head to the side, causing his choppy dark toffee hair to fall over his face. "What's up? You don't look so well," Leon said with a soft pout.

"Nothing. I just got dragged outside by Mattie Williams," Emil replied sounding exhausted.

"Eh?" Leon remarked, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow in concern. Emil wasn't exactly sure if the 'eh?' was supposed to be Leon expressing interest in the subject or just wanting to poke fun at the fact that Matthew had a habit of constantly saying 'eh?'. Nevertheless, Emil had to elaborate.

"Just wanted to talk to me about the other night," he explained, shutting his locker and turning to walk with Leon back outside for recess. "Don't talk to him. He's kinda nuts."

"How so?" Leon wondered.

"Like my brother, but about seventeen times worse," Emil said, trying to be discreet. He didn't need to make a big deal out of it.

"Fairies and trolls?" Leon asked.

"Fairies and trolls," Emil confirmed with a sideways smile.

Once the tortuously long school day was over, Emil flopped down across the back seat of Matthias' ugly dark red four wheel drive. Lukas jumped into the passenger seat with a low sigh and Matthias bounded into the car with a new dose of energy since school was over for the day. Matthias would drive both Lukas and Emil home because of three reasons:

1. It was his "duty as the fantastic boyfriend he was" to drive Lukas home out of love and also as payment for tutoring for just about every subject.

2. Matthias only lived a few streets away from them and passed their house on his way home, so it would only be logical to drive them home.

3. Lukas refused to let Emil walk home by himself.

"Did the day take the shit outta ya, kid?" Matthias asked, turning around to see Emil hopelessly sprawled across the back of the car. Emil only grumbled in reply.
