*Sarah’s POV*

It was another typical adoption day at the orphanage. Ms. Stevens was scurrying about making sure everything was perfect. I stared out the window and watched the rain race down until I couldn’t tell which drops I was watching anymore. I hate adoption days. Every week girls get picked to go to loving families while I’m still stuck in this stupid place. Ms. Stevens helps me through the feeling of being neglected. She has worked here since I came here. When I was four some person brought me here after an accident that killed my parents.

“Sarah,” Ms. Stevens called from downstairs, “It’s time for people to start coming in. Can you please help the younger girls get down here?”

I sigh as I take one last look out the window before I turn around to go help the little ones. Once I get them situated, Ms. Stevens calls me over to her.

“Are you ready for today?” She asked.

“Not really,” I respond, “it will probably end up the way it always does.”

“Don’t be too sure about that. I have a good feeling about today.” She gives me a reassuring hug before letting me go back to the other girls.

It has been almost five hours and a lot of lucky girls have gotten their loving family and I’m still here like I predicted. I sigh in defeat when I hear the bell ding meaning someone just entered the orphanage. They could be my family! I quickly get rid of the false hope; it just makes not getting chosen harder. I look up to see who entered the door and gasp.
