* Sarah POV*
I sat in Jade’s room with her for a few hours trying to help her calm down. I do not understand why she thinks everything she does is wrong. She saved me. If it wasn’t for her, I would still be in that orphanage. Don’t get me wrong, they treated me like family there but it’s just not the same as this. This is a bond that I would not have been able to find anywhere else in the world.
*Jade POV*
I can’t believe Sarah is still here comforting me after everything I screwed up. Everything. EVERY. SINGLE. THING. How is that humanly possible? She deserves Perrie as a mother not me. I’m not ready. Why did I think that I was? I should have thought this through instead of just doing. I should have listened to management. They warned me something like this might happen.
“Sarah,” I choke out.
“I’m here,” comes her tender response
“Why do you have so much faith in me,” I say before processing what I’m saying.
“You saved me. I would still be stuck where you found me and probably never get adopted. You changed my life forever. I will always love you and you better not forget it ever,” she gives me a huge hug as she finishes talking. “Are you hungry? You missed breakfast,” Sarah asks handing me yet again another tissue. All I can do is nod my head.
Sarah carefully helps me out of the bed and leads me downstairs. We go to the kitchen and she sits me down.
“What do you want to eat,” she asks, “we have fruit, cereal, salads, quite a few things. Ohh I just found chocolate doughnuts! Do you want one of these,” Sarah hold up a doughnut and gives it to me.
“Thanks,” I say taking the doughnut from her hands. As I eat the doughnut, Sarah cuts up some fruit and puts it in a bowl for me.
“I’ll be right back,” Sarah mentions as she walks out of the kitchen.
*Sarah POV*
Poor Jade. She’s hurt emotionally I can tell. She hides it the same way I do. Alone in my room I’m a mess but outside of my room I just smile. Smiles hide so much. Too much, I think as remember the orphanage. I quickly push the thought from my head. That’s the past. Life is better now, I don’t need to think of those times. I hated and still do hate those times.
I hadn’t realized I had stopped walking until Perrie came out of her room and I was just standing there.
“How’s Jade,” Perrie asks. I can tell she is truly worried about her.
“A bit better. She doesn’t think that she’s a good mom. She says that you’d be better for me than her. Has she ever been diagnosed with depression or anything similar?”
“Not that I know of. I’ll keep an eye on her though.”
“Thanks. I don’t know her as well yet. Please just let me know if anything is out of place.”
“I will. Where is Jade now?”
“In the kitchen with a chocolate doughnut and some fruit.”
“That’s a good start,” Perrie says approvingly.
We go back to the kitchen together and find Jade staring at her empty bowl like a little puppy.
“Do you want more,” I ask her. She just nods as I take the bowl to get more fruit.
As I look back I notice how sad she truly looks. Her eyes are bloodshot, her hair is a knotted mess, cloths are draped all over, the blanket wrapped around her doesn’t look to clean either. After I hand her the newly filled bowl of fruit, I suggest she takes a shower after she’s done eating. I let Jade eat while I go ‘look’ for something for myself. I pretend that I can’t reach something.
“Perrie, will you come get this for me? I’m too short,” I look over a Perrie hoping she gets what I’m trying to do. Thankfully she does and she comes over.
“After you get this down, will you go get the razors from the shower before Jade gets there. Just to be safe,” I whisper.
“Yeah,” she responds while grabbing the biscuits.
“Thanks,” I add grabbing the box.
“Whatever you need,” Perrie says leaving the room.
