Patsy POV

As I rolled over, for a moment I forgot where I was, it was unusual for me to wake up this late I usually had work to do, but I then remembered that I am finally in the city of Paris. I was not needed until the end of Delia and I's holiday, just the two of us and no screaming mothers and babies for that matter. Deels who was lying next to me was sound asleep and oh god how I wish I could wake up to this every morning but for now I guess this is the best I can have.

For a short while I watched her gentle breathing in her sleep, i took every opportunity I had like this to watch her, because when she was like this she didn't have any troubles on her mind and she was so perfect in every way possible.
Soon enough I felt her shift and I knew that she was about to wake up.

"Morning Deels" I said
"Morning Pats" she replied, her soft Welsh accent calmed me, it was like something out of a fairytale.
The smile on her face told me that she was happy to see I hadn't left like I'd had to so many nights back home at Nonnatus House so that no one would find out about us.
Sometimes I wish that I'd stayed at the hospital so we could share nurses lodgings.

"Deels?" I asked, in a whisper.
Delia slowly turned to face me and I could now see her full beauty, her crystal blue eyes meeting mine as butterflies swarm my stomach.
"Yes Pats, what's the matter?" She replied, staring intently into my eyes.
"You do know I love you don't you?"
"Of course I know that silly! And I love you too, more than anything" She smirked, planting a small kiss on my lips which only caused me to smile.
Those words comforted me, sometimes I felt that I didn't do enough to show my love for her.
We stay in that position for what seemed like an eternity, savouring every minute, knowing just how lucky I am to truly call her mine.

As we walk down the Rue Crémieux, I can't help but realise that we haven't held hands for months in public. Now that we are in Paris and we are having the time of our lives, we're still nervous and apprehensive of what people think of us.

I subtly brush my hand against Delia's, letting her know that it's okay. She flinches but only slightly before looking my way and grabbing my hand tightly, bringing me closer to her side.

The street is full of fascinating smells and sights, the Paris people gossip about is truly real and in front of my eyes. Cobblestone pathways line the street and a dozen market stalls are placed side by side and are inviting in every way possible. Every time we pass a stall selling freshly baked bread or cakes, Delia just can't help herself and she ends up buying too much- eventually making herself full!

"Why does everything taste so much better here? I'd go as far to say that their cakes are better than the cakes in the Nonnatus kitchen!" Delia says, wiping her mouth with a tissue.

"I'm glad you said that here otherwise Sister Monica Joan would probably disagree!" I reply, laughing, also missing Sister Monica Joans little speeches that are full of wisdom.

"Very true, but we don't need any words of wisdom because the only person I need to listen to is you, and only you" Deels says, making me blush and hoping she doesn't notice.

After a busy afternoon exploring the streets of Paris, the sky was on the verge of darkness and the day was coming to an end. It was humid but there was still a cool breeze, reminding us that this was indeed France- not the Bahamas. I led Delia to a bench, isolated from anyone who were walking by and we both sat down. From where we were sat, we could see the lake and a very elegant fountain with a misty blue light shining from underneath the water. If bliss was a place, it would be here.

"I would say that we've had a very productive day." Delia proudly says, smiling.

"Indeed, made ten times better with you," I reply, holding her hand and noticing that they're frightfully cold. "You're freezing! Why didn't you tell me, here."

I take off my green jacket and place it over her. There was no reply but it wasn't needed as she rested her head on my shoulder, wasting the evening away with our hands intertwined...
