Ruth came back home from school on the 12 o'clock bus, by the time the second listen began ,biology, she began to feel hollow inside.
She entered the house praying that no one would be home and for once. In the past  months she felt like God was on her side; the house was empty not a single breath could be heard, at times like those Ruth found herself loving the big lonely house. Her mum spent a lot of money primping up the house and made it look as fancy as possible. There were fake flowers in every corner of the house which in Ruth's prescriptive symbolized her family. Her family always pretended as if everything was perfect and there was nothing wrong, fake just like those flowers. Acting happy and fooling everyone who knew them; and lets not forget they were dead inside, there was no life inside of them... just like those flowers.

Ruth went up to her room and sat on the bed which was at the far corner near the windows. Ruth tried to make her room as "emo" as possible as an act of defiance towards her parents, That act was heavily inspired by Siruis Black.  She had band posters up on her wall, with dark song lyrics filling every empty space in between the posters but the thing that really made her parents angry with her is the pentagram in the middle of the room. Ruth wasn't a satanist but she felt that her parents were such fake religious freaks that she just needed to make them know that they couldn't control her beliefs. When it came to God Ruth strongly believed that the dude was just something humans came up with to blame their shitty ass life on or that if he did actually exist he would be too far up his own ass to care about humans.

Ruth had a change of clothes and blasted some music on and went to deep sleep...

"I said get up you lazy girl!! I need to go to work and your brother needs to eat so feed him for me... WAKE UPPPPP!!" Ruths mum screamed at her but only got a grunt as a response from Ruth, Ruth has been up for a while now. In fact she has been up ever since her mother and younger brother came back . She hoped that if she pretended to sleep that they might disappear. She waited for her mum to leave her room before she crawled out of bed. Her laptop was on the table and she debated whether she should switch it on or not. She really wasn't in the mood for a long conversation with Ravyn about how much she "changed" and how the "old Ruth" would have never said something like that. But on the other hand she really missed her best friend... her and Ravyn go way back , she couldn't give up on her just because of these stupid snide comments. Ruth felt guilty but not guilty enough to open the laptop now... maybe some other time.

Ruth couldn't understand what went wrong. She never thought that by giving Ravyn and her new boyfriend, Reynard, space it would end like this.

"If you don'come this second I swear to God!" Ruths mum screeched from downstairs.
"You do know that I can understand English so no need for all of these empty threats mum"Ruth replied and made sure that her voice dripped with venom.
Ruth lazily walked out of her room, past her younger brothers room that was right beside hers, and went downstairs to the kitchen. Her younger brother looked up at her and smiled a bright smile. His name was Adam. Adam was the only one in this forsaken house that actually made Ruth smile from time to time. She found him really annoying and spoilt but she had a soft spot for him deep down. After all he was the only who actually acted like he loved her.
"Hey chicken, what do you want to it?" Ruth inquired playfully
"I am not the chicken!! I am the dog! See," Adam replied and started barking like a dog. Adam didn't really speak proper English even though he was five. It was due to the fact he hardly spoke to any one in the house. He kept to himself  watching YouTube videos all day or playing on the play station. It wasn't healthy but no body listened to Ruth when she told them to make him stop.
"Alright, you are a dog, but what do you want to eat?"
"I want to eat what you eat."
Ruth took in a long breath. She hadn't eaten anything for the past 2 days. The thought of food made her stomach growl with anger and disgust. Ruth hated food. She hated the scent of it, the look it and most of all the way it went down her throat and settled in her stomach only to be turned into fat later on.
"I ate my special pizza, lucky you; I have 4 slices left." Ruth lied. She had made pizza just incase her body couldn't handle it anymore but she didn't eat it.
Adam nodded his head excitedly. Ruth put the four slices in front of him and watched as he gulped them all done. As soon as he was done eating her mum walked in.
"Did you feed him?" She asked with a condescending tone.
"Yeah mum."
"Alright good, make sure that he finishes his homework. And stop laying around in bed all day!! It is not healthy and it starting to piss me off. I am working till 12 p.m. today and your brother better be asleep by 10 p.m. I am going to work now."
"Okay mum, take care." Ruth kept conversations with her family as short as possible, she learnt the hard way the loner the conversation the more bull shit she had to put up with.
She watched as her mums care backed away from the garage and out into the busy street. She let out a sigh.
"I am going to my room if you need me you will find me there." Ruth informed Adam.
"I want to stay with you." Adam said innocently,
"Alright fine, but one beep out of you and you are out.".
Ruth went back to sleep while Adam sat next to her watching YouTube videos.
