Chapter 1: A New Beginning

[Kianna in the media]

Kianna's POV:

??: "What's up little pup? Where you been? You haven't been avoiding me have you?"

I stare at him as if I had seen a ghost as he begins to walk towards me.

Me: "Leave me alone Drake!"

I began punching the air.

Drake: "Nah, ma, I'm sorry, but I don't take no for an answer."

I begin to walk back and trip over something behind me.

Mom: "Kianna!"

Drake: "Come here little pup. I missed you."

Me: "You definitely didn't miss me when you raped me! You were supposed to be a role model! You were my uncle for godsakes!? And you just think it's okay to rape a 13 year old girl?! Get aways from me!"

I got up and began to charge at him with all the force in my body.

Mom: "Kianna! Wake up sweetie your dreaming! Wake up baby!"

I wake up and look at the ceiling, then I sit up to face my mom. She hugs me tight.

Me: "Ma, he was there! He was trying to get me again!"

I hadn't even realized I was crying til my mom wiped my face.

Mom: "Awe it's okay sweetie, he can't get you anymore he's in jail. He has been for years. Anna you're safe I promise."

She looks at me and hugs me again.

My mom and I have been through so much. Ever since dad died when I was 8, it hasn't been easy. My mom had been in and out of work at different nursing institutions, my grades were like a rollercoaster ride, and my mom's side of the family hasn't been around for years, so besides my best friend, Kira, being there for me, it's basically like we're all alone

Mom: "Get up pumpkin butt, I made you a big 'first day' breakfast."

I got outta bed and headed to my closet.

Me: "Aww, ma you didn't have to do that. I could've ate at school."

Mom: "Ew, no I know how that school food taste and my daughter's not gonna be eatin that mess"

I laughed and shook my head.

Me: "Alright ma, I'm gonna take my shower and get dressed and I'll be down there."

Mom: "Okay sweetie."

Before she got out the door, I yelled.

Me: "Hey mom?!"

Mom: "Huh?"

Me: "Thanks."

She smiles then walks out.

I went to my closet and took out my acid washed skinny jeans, a white crop top, my white converse and threw them across my bed.

Ugh, first day of school at a whole new school? I really don't feel like this today

I walk to my bathroom and begin to get undressed when I got a text from my best friend Kira.

Sister 👭❤:
Hola chica! 😋

Me:
Hey! I miss you so much Kira! 😔

Sister 👭❤:
I miss you too amiga! Ugh, It seems like it's been longer than a month that you been gone! 😔

Me:
IKR! Like and bruhhhh, I start school today too?! 😒

Sister 👭❤:
What? Really? We dont start til September down here! That's loco, well I'll pray for you girl, cause I know damn well you gone need it down there where you are 😂

Me:
Lol, girl you a trip 😂 So when you gonna come visit me?!

Sister 👭❤:
Imma try to get up there soon best friend I swea, cuz you know I got that job down at footlocker now 😋 so saving up to come down there is a must 💯

Me:
Ooh look at my girl finna start her la job 😁 well imma have to have you cop me a new pair of shoes too when you come then too 😂 but hopefully it's asap cause I'm missing you sis

Sister 👭❤:
I know chica, but you know I gotchu & I'll be there before you can say hermana 👌

Me:
Okay okay, well I gotta get ready so I'll text you later but I love you ❤

Sister 👭❤:
I love you too have a good day ❤

I look at my phone and close my eyes.

Me: "Hermana"

I sighed as I got in the shower.
