Fate spread out her arms to keep her balance on the log, " Can you believe that, Ren?" she said to the boy that walked next to her on flat ground. Ren had played the dark blue-haired childhood friend in Fate's life for as long as she could remember, and now, they had both turned 14. People would always say that the two were made for each other, but of course, Ren made it quite clear that they were only friends."Yeah. I mean, you? A Guardian? I noticed that you were strange, but I didn't peg you as out right abnormal!" he laughed as she playfully punched him in the arm. Fate jumped down from the log and stood in front of him," I have to go to the Guardians' tower tonight. Will you come with me? I don't want to go alone. Please." she looked at him with those pleading, purple eyes. That always sold Alex when she was a child, but she wasn't so sure now. Ren turned away and scoffed, " Fine. I don't see why you're making such a big deal about going by yourself." he said, walking ahead of her. She jumped up in happiness, glad that she had found such a kind person to be her friend.

That Night.
Fate leaned up against the tree that her and Ren usually met at. Tonight was her orientation night for all the new, young Guardians of Gamoria, and she wanted him to be there with her. This time, she wasn't gonna let the moment slip away from her; she was gonna tell Ren how she'd really felt this entire time. All this time, she had kept her feelings to herself, hoping that he would figure it out himself. Unfortunately, he hadn't said anything that led her to believe such a thing, so she was gonna tell outright tonight. And if everything went correctly, he would feel the same way about her too. Then, she heard a twig snap. Fate looked up and wished on that same star that she always did one last time before Ren appeared from the bushes. She smiled," You made it! Ready to go?"
Ren looked up at her with a sad expression," Actually, I'm not going." he said, looking in a different direction. Fate took a step back, then started laughing. " Good try, Ren; you almost had me there. Seriously, come on." she said, turning around and walking. " So, do you think----Ren? Why are you still standing there? Let's go!" she laughing, tugging on his hand. But he didn't flinch. Instead, he snatch his hand away forcefully. " Do NOT touch me." he turned around so all she saw was his back. Fate reared back," R-Ren? Is something wrong? You're acting really weird right now." she said, placing a hand on his shoulder. Ren turned around," I said don't touch me, you freak!" he yelled in her face. Fate gasped, stepping back. " What...what did you just say?" she asked, hanging her head. Ren looked at her harshly," I never want to hear from you again, got it?! Don't even look at me if you see me at school, you got that?!" he took a breath. Fate made her hands into fists," And may I ask why you're acting like an ass?" she whispered, a single tear falling from her unseeable eyes. Her head remained down as she asked, only so she wouldn't have to see his face.
"Because," he voice returned to a calm, then went back to it's original harshness," Because you're a Guardian; and I'll have nothing to do with freaks like you." he proclaimed. All was quiet for the moment as they both stood there. Finally, Fate looked up at him with teary eyes and an angry expression. What was this feeling? She usually felt this feeling for a bully in school or her father who would never be in her life, but felt like he could run it. And then, she knew exactly what this feeling was. It was a feeling she promised she'd never feel towards anyone she cared about. A feeling that she'd made forbidden to herself.
This feeling was hatred.
"Fine." Fate said slowly. " The same goes for you. Don't you EVER get the idea to speak to me again!" and she ran off down the hill. Fine. Let him be that way. Let him be a jackass. Let him be the one to crush all her hopes and dreams of them ever being together. It wasn't her fault she was a Guardian. She didn't ask to be different. She never wanted this.
And now, she didn't want him.

Most people would say to forgive and forget. Most others would say to try to let the wounds heal. But personally, I don't want my wounds to heal. I want the hate to fester and boil inside of me. Hatred and sorrow are power; you can control them. All you have to do is turn them into strength, and use that strength to move forward. My name is Fate, and my mother named me that because she thought fate brought people together for a good reason.
But if you're asking me, that's just a bunch of BS.
