There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do, I'll be right behind you

So glad we've almost made it
So sad we had to fade it

Everybody wants to rule the world

"We need more time, Boss!" Venus called out to Laurent as he rushed everyone to hurry up and get suited up, armed and prepared to go into a gang war.

"Hurry up," he commanded her as he reviewed Jason's intel in the analytical engine in the operation room.

As he scrolled over and over, he came across the picture all the Mafia lieutenants took at the Elemental Ball. Sasha, Alexis, Laurent, Yuri, Jason, Larry, Venus, Igloo and Mari all posed for the photo. He stared blankly at the photo as a smile slowly formed on his face that previously bore an angry expression.

He printed the picture off and waited by the printer as it printed. When it was done printing, he held it in front of him and smiled at it. It made him happy, yet so sad at the same time.

"What's got you smiling?" Alexis interrupted the moment by coming into the operation room.
"Nothing," he said shoving the photo in an inside pocket.

"Mmm... Well, can you help me with this?" She asked, placing her turtle pendant to her neck.
"You really never took it off, you always wear it."
"It's the only memory of my father besides his pictures."
"I know." He stepped aside to review Jason's intel again.
"What? How?"
"Forget it. Let's just review the intel so we can take out these Vikings."

Alexis crossed her arms, giving him a concerned look as she raised her eyebrow at him. "Why do you hate them so much?"

Laurent froze at Alexis' question. He can't answer it, but he at the same time, he can. His lips twisted as he thought hard about ways to avoid her question.

"I have the same hate you have for them, but that started when they killed Igloo, and you and Larry have obviously hated them long before then... Why?"

Laurent looked away, refraining from eye contact with her, but can still feel her curious eyes piercing into his side. They faced nothing but awkward, anxious silence, waiting on the truth to be revealed. I've got to tell her, he thought, I can't just leave this in the dark. Realizing that this isn't something that he can take to his grave, he sighed and prepared to tell her the hidden truth.

"Because he made me commit me and my brother commit our first murder at 12, and you witness your first murder at 8."

"What are you talking about?"

..~~<<LAURENT'S POV>>~~..

Laurent (twelve years old)

Uncle Price and his daughter, Alexis, came over today. He isn't really our uncle, he's Dad's best friend, but he looks like one and feels like one.

While they talk, me, Alexis and Larry run around the living playing tag and hide n' seek. Dad usually always yells at us to stop, but I guess Uncle Price has him in a good mood today. Uncle Price even bought Alexis a silver pendant with a turtle on it, and Alexis loved it every bit. She says it makes her feel like a princess.

"I found you!" I yelled at Alexis when I caught her under the staircase. She pouted, knowing she's "it" now because I found her first.

"You cheated!" She claimed. "You were peaking!"
"I was not!"
"Then how'd you find me?"
"Because I-"
