Larry rolled his eyes. Since Laurent hit him up about the Mafia, he's gotten nothing but complaints. This is exactly why Larry doesn't want much to do with the family's drug mob business.
"What is it?" He asked.
Mari sighed before telling him, "The police are decreasing our Mafia."
"What do you mean?"
"Follow me. Both of you."Mari lead them through her house. They passed many women on the way. Some stopping to wave, some stopping to make sexual comments towards them, and others wanting their "time." The hallways are long enough to have 2 loveseats in them. Mari turns down a hallway and walks to the end. She takes to the door on the right.
She opens the door and Larry and Alexis follow her in. Alexis looks around, turning her head to fully check the room out. This place is full of books. "What is this place?" Alexis asked, confused.
"You never been in a library before?" Larry teased her.
"It's my study," Mari corrected him. She walked into a room with many advanced technology equipment in it. There are people using the computers that are very focused, and for this reason, Mari doesn't speak to them. She stands in front of a map that's next to people's biographies. "Look at this."
"What are we looking at?" Larry asked, paying close attention to the pins on the map and the biographies.
"Somehow, the police have been finding us, and we don't know how! We're losing ground! All the drug production headquarters, cartels and farms we've lost to the cops have pins on them. And... oh! I almost forgot." Mari took another red pin and pinned it on the map on Austin, Texas. They've lost enough territory.
"What of our people? They aren't defending us?" Larry asks. Alexis wants to ask questions too, but knows nothing of this. All she can do is listen to information. "Many of our lieutenants are KIA or incarcerated. Mafia members are dropping their flags at fast rates before they're either killed or sent to jail. Laurent's been stressing himself out about it."
"Where is my brother?"
"As we speak, I don't know, but I can take you to him."
"When?" He asked.
"As soon as tomorrow if you like."Alexis raised her eyebrows at the idea of tomorrow. She'd already been in enough trouble today, she doesn't need to get into more trouble with complete strangers.
"Contact Larry and arrange a meeting tomorrow," Larry said.
"Will do.""And where do I come in?" Alexis finally spoke up after listening in total confusion for so long. "Matter of fact, why am I here? Why was I chosen?" Alexis fired them up with questions. Larry and Mari just looked at each other. "Is there something you're not telling me?" She asked.
"We know your father," Mari tells her.
"What?" Alexis asked in total confusion."Your father and the twins' father were great friends. I remember seeing them growing up," she explains, "and even though they're both dead, my uncle's deed to your father still lives on.. as you can see." Alexis' mouth dropped. How does she even know her father is dead? Alexis has never seen these people a day in her life, and they know her father is dead, a fact many of her acquaintances doesn't know. "What deed?" She asked, desperate for answers.
"To watch over and protect you," Larry answered.
"Why didn't you tell me this when we first met in the coffee shop?" She whined.
"You think I'ma walk in there, tell a stranger this shit and expect them to believe me?"
"Point taken. Why am I just now finding out about this?""At your father's request," Mari told her. "People born into the Mafia are not allowed work in the Mafia until they're 18; we can't have minors risking their lives. And your father knew you'd try way before you were ready, and he didn't wanna take a risk of you getting hurt. He wants to make you a lieutenant."
Alexis rubbed her chin at her father's idea for her future. A lieutenant... she thought. "I guess that works."
"Get some sleep, ladies," Larry told them walking out of the room, "We have a meeting tomorrow." He left out the room.
"Alexis, follow me," Mari said walking towards the door, "We have to get you situated."
Alexis nodded and followed her. All the way to the bedroom, she faced girls cat calling Mari, and some even offering Alexis their "service," to which she refused. It is the most beautiful, big bedroom she'd ever seen. It's too gorgeous for a guest bedroom. "Mari, I don't want to bug anyone you may live with... Is there a guest room?"
Cormari laughed. "Girl, this room is vacant."
"Forreal?" Alexis asked.
"Yes."
"What about all these women? Where do they sleep?"
"Get some rest, Alexis. You have a long day tomorrow. Clothes are in the closet," she said happily as she left the room.Alexis checked the closet. It was fully stocked. Holy shit, she thought to herself while picking out clothes, Imagine what her closet looks like!
The clothes were all different sizes, so she picked up what fit her and threw her dirty clothes onto a circular ottoman in front of a lounge chair by the window. She settled herself into the most comfortable bed ever and went to sleep.
