I ship Ameripan more than UsUk, but I felt like writing a platonic story thing :3

Bright colors exploded in the sky, making the darker clouds above visable. Streaks of red and blue streamed through the air, smaller white sparks speckling the patriotic aroma from sparklers.

Two men stood on a rooftop, high above the ground. One of the men's eyes, blue in color, shone brightly, gazing at the fireworks with patriotism. His blond cowlick stuck upwards in the shape of a Massachusetts island.

The other of the two, with blond ruffled hair and green eyes, looked at the sky as another round of fireworks lit up the air, painting the sky red white and blue with a few streaks of green. "It is rather loud." He muttered calmly.

The first man chuckled, "Yeah. Welcome to America!"

The second man sighed, "Alfred, how long is this supposed to last?" He asked.

Alfred shrugged, "Well Arthur, it keeps going until they are out of things to blow up."

"And how long will that be?" Arthur asked and raised an eyebrow.

"I don't know." Alfred started with a smile, "Even if they do run out of fireworks, they can set other things on fire. One year, someone set hamburgers on fire and threw them into the streets!"

Arthur slouched back on the roof, "Im not surprised. You did do ridiculous things before." He said.

"Since when did I say that I was the one who did it?!" Alfred asked, pretending to sound offended.

"It sounded like something you would do." Another round of fireworks exploded in the sky, rapidly releasing large sparks of white color in the air. Alfred chuckled and looked back at the sky as a semi-awkward silence fell between the two.

A few more fireworks went by before Arthur broke the silence, "You didn't have to leave, you know."

Alfred looked at him, "What?"

Arthur took a deep breath, "You didn't have to leave me."

Alfred paused before responding, "Are you talking about...the...?"

Another long silence fell between them as Arthur took a few quiet deep breaths, keeping his eyes and voice under control, eventually continuing with a "Yes."

Alfred looked back up at the sky, now clear from color and left with clouds and smoke, "That's all in the past." His voice sounded serious for once.

Arthur took a few more quiet deep breaths before continuing, "I raised you like a brother." He started. Alfred stayed quiet, too unsettled to say anything. "I took you in when you were alone, and showed you the world." Arthur continued, "Those toy soldiers, the first time you tried on a full suit, all those times you were forced to endure my horrid cooking, even though I hate to admit it, I was always there for you."

Arthur looked over at Alfred, who was looking down at his hands which were clenched around each other. "And you grew into the man you are today." Arthur added.

It was Alfred's turn to take a deep breath, "You already had so much land, so much power." He started, "I have always looked up to you for that, and I wanted to be like you. But, as I grew, you weren't the superman I always thought you were." He took another deep breath, "I learned that you were only Arthur. You weren't God, you weren't king of the world. You are Arthur." He took a longer deep breath, "But I still looked up to you."

"Then why did you leave?" Arthur snapped suddenly. "If you looked up to me, why did you leave?"

Alfred continued to look down at his hands, "Don't you remember?" He started, "When you discovered my lands? Not only were you slaying the Natives in the area, but you were also acting violent to everyone else, like Francis." He sighed, "And then you started taxing my people."

Arthur was silent for a while more. Then, his spoke, his voice cracking and in a high wailing sound, "You don't understand." His change in voice startled Alfred, causing to look over, "You don't understand why I fought Francis." Arthur's eyes started watering as he looked into Alfred's, "When I went to war, I did it for the supplies from the Native Americans since Francis was growing stronger. I wanted you to be kept in good hands and you were." Arthur started to break down, and with a few moment's hesitation, Alfred rested a hand on Arthur's back as he continued, "God damnit, Alfred, I acted like your older brother. I gave you land, and all I asked for return was money to pay for the war I went to for you."

Arthur started sobbing, but that didn't stop him from speaking, "I wanted the best for you, and I could've helped you grow. B-but instead you didn't want my help. You wanted independence to do what you want yourself." He sobbed for a few long moments before continuing, "E-evidently, you didn't need me anymore. I couldn't be your hero anymore." That's when he collapsed. He held Alfred in his arms, sobbing into his shoulder.

Alfred couldn't do anything, partially from shock and than Arthur held down his arms. He listened to Arthur's sobs, and felt tears forming on his face as well. I always talk about being the hero, when Arthur has been mine since I met him. Tears streamed down from his face. I always did look up to him. He was the greatest thing since discovering the new land. Both Matthew and my land.

Before he knew it, Alfred started to sob as well. "I'm sorry," was all he managed to squeeze out before getting caught in a sobbing fit. The two men sobbed for a long while, unable to say anything. Memories flooded their minds, and they just let it happen.

After a great amount if time passed, their eyes ran dry. Arthur still held Alfred in his arms. "When you were young, you called me 'big brother'. I told you not to after all the times the others left me." Arthur said, "I was scared that you will leave me, so I have always held you so tightly when you were younger." He added, his voice now calm.

Alfred took a deep breath, "You couldn't control me forever. Every younger brother feels that their older brother is inferior eventually." He said, "But I will never completely abandon you."

Arthur slowly smiled, the first time that day, and let go of Alfred, "It relieves me that you will never be truly gone." He said. He then snapped his head towards Alfred, "Hey, since when was I inferior to you?" He demanded.

Alfred smirked and got up, rushing towards the window, "You always were!" He called back as he slipped into the building.

Arthur stood up and started chasing him, "You bloody wanker, get back here!" He yelled, and Alfred's loud cheerful laugh filled the building.
