Jason watched as his fiance finished buckling up their two children and climb into the front seat where he waited patiently.
"Ready?" She asked only to find him staring at her.
"Jason?" She called out, reaching out and placing her hand on his. Jason's eyes drifted to her hand that was placed on his before meeting her gaze.
"Jason?" He lifted his gaze to meet hers, "Are you alright?" She asked.
He nodded, "What's wrong?" He asked,
She shook her head, "Nothing. I was just- you were just sitting there, staring at me." She said.
"Sorry." He said, starting the car.
"Jason, you don't have to apologize." She said, gazing into his blue eyes.
Before Jason could respond, Carolina and Samantha spoke up, "Mommy?" They called out.
Melissa glanced back at her children, "Yes?"
"Do you still love daddy?" Samantha asked.
Melissa felt her entire body freeze as she took in her daughters question. She was worried she noticed how distant she and their father had become these last few months.
"Of course I still love your father." Melissa blurted, glancing at Jason over her shoulder, "Just as I love you." She said. She didn't want her girls to think that their family was breaking up, so she had to speak up before Jason said anything else.
"Yay!" They screamed as she turned around in her seat.
"Thank you, but you didn't have to do that." Jason said.
"Yes, I did. You're basically my children's father and my soon to be husband. I don't want them to suffer because we are going through something." She said, glancing over at him. Jason tore his gaze from the road for a few seconds to gaze into her eyes. He still love Melissa but they've been growing apart lately.
"Thank you." He said.
She shook her head, "There's no need to thank me." She said.
Jason pulled up in front of The Penthouse and shut the engine off before stepping out of the car, opening the back door to let out Samantha who, rather quickly, rushed to the other side of the car and took Melissa's hand. Melissa smiled down at her little girl, "Hey." She laughed.
"Hi." Sam said, smiling up at her mother.
Jason walked in behind three of the most important girls in his life as they walked into the penthouse, hand in hand laughing. He didn't know how long he and Melissa were going to last, his business was getting to her, but he hoped she'd allow him to still see her little girls. They may not be his biologically but they were his in every sense if the word. They loved him just as much as he loved them. He didn't want to lose them.
