"Ed? Why are you here?" I asked surprised.

Edward stood in the doorway of the cabin, arms crossed tightly over his chest. His expression wasn't angry exactly — more guarded, like he was bracing himself for something he already suspected.

"I could ask you the same thing," he said. "What are you doing out here?"

"I came to see Liam," I replied carefully. "What are you doing?"
Did he really follow me here?!

"I followed you. I saw Zayn give you a ride," he continued. "You were acting weird. I just... wanted to make sure you were okay."

"Well I'm fine, so-"

"You must be Edward," Liam interrupted smoothly, stepping forward and offering his hand.

Edward hesitated before shaking it. "Yeah. Nice to meet you."

"You too," Liam said, studying him with open curiosity.

Ugh Liam.

"So how do you two know each other?" Edward asked.

"Well we used to be fuck buddies." Liam started.

"LIAM!" My eyes widened and I hit his stomach.
What the hell?! I didn't exactly want to tell Edward that...

"Ow! Strong one, you are." he laughed, "Our moms were best friends, so we basically grew up together." he answered and put an arm around me, then he started to mess up my hair.

"Ugh!" I groaned and slipped from his grasp, "He's annoying, don't listen to him. Ever." I teased.

"Right." Edward cocked an eye brow, "Do you need a ride home then, Alex?"

"Uh."

I looked at Liam and he nodded, "It was about time for me to leave anyways."

Sighing I gave Liam one last hug and whispered in his ear, "If you need anything, please just give me a call. Anything."

"Will do, princess." he chuckled and kissed my cheek, "I'll try to keep in touch more."

"You better." I said through my out of control sniffling.

Then I walked out of the cabin and Edward grabbed my hand, leading me to his car. When we got there, I turned around but didn't find Liam. He was gone.

"Why didn't you just tell me?" Edward asked as we got into his car.

"No one could know I was there." I explained.

"Zayn knew." Edward stated.

"I know, but Zayn wouldn't have followed me like I knew you would. No one knows about that place except me and Liam...and now you." I replied, "That's our place."

"Why are you two so secretive? Did you need some 'alone time' so you could mess around with each other?" he asked angrily.

Was he jealous?
"No! We don't do that...anymore." I said shyly.
Edward sighed and shook his head.
"It was a long time ago, Ed!" I told him angrily, "You wouldn't understand even if I told you."

"Try me."

"We were both falling apart," I said quietly. "My dad had just died. His dad left. We were angry and lonely and stupid teenagers trying to survive. Sometimes we leaned on each other in ways we probably shouldn't have. He's been there for me through everything," I added. "And now he's running for his life. I can't even properly be there for him anymore."

"What's his story anyways? Whys he in hiding? I don't get it." Edward asked.

"When his dad left him and his mom stopped caring for him, he went down hill. He started selling used credit cards for money so he could get an apartment. One man he sold one to found out if was fake and started to go after him. They're still trying to find him. So he left town. Left his mom, left his home...left me..." I explained and pushed back my tears, "He's always been there for me and I've always been there for him. Now neither of us can have each others backs."
