"Do you guys know each other?" Taeyeon questioned both me and Baekhyun. He better not say anything about our history or I swear I will shoot him.
My sister doesn't need to know anything about him being the guy I would mess around with and play with his heart for fun. Especially now there is no need to mention any of it, he is going to marry her.
"Seoyeon...?" Taeyeon called my attention back.
"We met through a close acquaintance of mine." He answered for me instead. That's not anywhere close to the truth of our relationship at all but that doesn't matter.
"Sit, Baekhyun we had already started dinner." My father held his hand out to show his seat.
My mom went to grab a plate of food for Baekhyun, "So...Seo, you've got to tell me, do you have a boyfriend by any chance?"
"Sorry, I have seen your posts on Instagram. I just wondered is the guy your boy-"
"Yes, he is my boyfriend." I said, cutting her off.
"What's his name?" There was an eagerness to her voice.
"Park Chanyeol, he is a music producer. He was supposed to come with me to meet you guys but he had to work." I said.
"Sounds like a nice guy." Baekhyun's voice sounded somewhat sarcastic but I just ignored it. The rest of dinner went on awkwardly as my sister kept talking my ear off about Baekhyun and questions about the States.
Occasionally, Baekhyun and I make eye contact. How did this happen? How did she even meet him in the first place? She is going to marry him?
I was in the guest room now unpacking all the stuff. Well this wasn't the guest room it used to be my old room but my parents transformed it. I laid down on the bed once I was finished, I heard a knock on my door, "Seoyeon?"
"Yeah, what's up?" I said. She walked over and laid herself next to me on the bed.
"I have a favor to ask of you." She said turning her head to me.
"Can you be my maid of honor?" She asked. Taeyeon had a hint of pink on her cheeks and pledging eyes as she waited for my answer.
"I thought Tiffany was going to be your maid of honor...?"
"Oh, no...she is actually going to help plan the wedding." She explained then she took my hands.
"Even if Tiffany could I wouldn't ask her because you're the one I want to be my maid of honor" She told me. Really? I thought she wouldn't want me to because I have been gone a long time.
"So will you?"
"Yeah," Taeyeon instantly pulled me into her arms.
"Did she say yes?" Baekhyun peeked into the room.
"She did, isn't it great?" She kissed his cheek, leaving him behind.
"It sure is." He smiled at me. Wait, that wasn't a smile. Was that a small smirk? He followed
Taeyeon out of my room. I get up from my bed to close my door when I see Baekhyun wrapped his arm around my sister's waist. He pulls her close enough to capture her lips in a kiss. I close the door immediately at the sight of the two of them and I press my back against the door. I feel this strange tightness in the pit of my stomach. It was probably the food.
It was late in the night, almost midnight to be exact. I couldn't sleep at all; I thought the jet lag would make me tired instead I was wide awake. I stared at the ceiling hoping the dullness of the walls would make me sleepy. I look out into the night, the Seoul tower off in the distance. I start to think about Chanyeol. I wonder what he is doing right now?
I looked at my phone and checked the time it was in LA. It was barely morning for him. He is probably having some warm waffles for breakfast, alone. I know he is probably smiling at the thought of me missing him right about now. God, I missed that sweet toothy smile of his.
I met Chanyeol when I first moved into the city. He was actually my next door neighbor in the apartment complex. We would always awkwardly bump into each other in the mornings at the same coffee place. But it wasn't until he accidentally dropped his coffee on me that he started to talk to me. He was such a typical flower boy next door. I never met someone so sweet. And he was the reason I changed. I grabbed a bundle of my sheets as my face began to heat up from the thought of him, causing me sleeplessness.
I left my room to watch some TV because it might be the one thing to make me fall asleep. I flipped through the channels a few times until I found a movie. I laid myself on the couch watching intensely. "Couldn't sleep either?" A voice interrupted my movie watching. I looked up to the side to see Baekhyun.
"No..." He sat on the other couch and started to watch with me. It felt awkward watching it with him.
Our relationship was never of comforting words or having friendships. It was simply of lust and games, mutual fun. When we would go out with his friends, we would never say we were together just acquaintances strictly. Because of that very thing his friends would try to hook up with me. Baekhyun didn't seem to be bothered by it. So, I went and had my fun basically flirtation with his friends.
For some reason I would always ended up trying to annoy Baekhyun on purpose. Maybe because I craved the attention that he would give me.
"So when did you meet Chanyeol?" He brought my attention back to reality.
"About a year ago..." I nodded my head. "That's nice, I am happy for you." He smiled at me.
"Thanks..." I tried to keep my eyes on the TV. "I am happy for you too. You and Taeyeon..." I am keeping my eyes glued to the TV.
"Yeah, she is everything I have ever wanted. Beautiful and her heart are in the right place." He said. From my peripheral vision I could see that Baekhyun was watching my reaction, but why?
"My sister is amazing." I smiled at him again. My phone begins to ring next to me, breaking up the awkward conversation. Thank god.
"Hello."
"Babe, how have you been? You aren't missing me too much, are you?"
"I'm fine, just a little jet lagged and of course I am."
"Sorry, I couldn't come with you."
"I know you keep telling me you're sorry. Just promise you will be my date when the wedding comes." I giggled at him.
"I promise." I could hear his smile through the phone.
"Are you getting ready for work?"
"Yeah, I just got out of the shower." He said.
"Oh...really..." He chuckled at me.
"At this time...?"
"Well, I don't have you with me to wake me up."
"I am the reason you wake up in the morning?"
"When you are sleeping next to me I am always happy to wake early to see your sleeping face so yes."
He sighed, "Seo, I have to go. I love you."
"I love you, too."
The call ended. I smiled to myself as I thought about how much I missed his cuteness.
"I hope you two are happy," He said, leaving me in the living room by myself.
Was he just jealous? Or Am I delusional?
I have to be delusional to think he would care the least bit.
