Hayley's POV:
The sun was shining bright, yet it was cold. I leaned against the wooden railing and admired the view. I checked the time.
"3 in the afternoon on a Saturday, nice" I whispered.
"Hey kiddo" Lisa smiled.
"Hey" I smiled back.
"Sorry about my brother, he moves fast eh?"
"Yeah, but it's alright"
"How you liking it so far?"
"It's nice. Cody's gone. That's a huge plus"
"Don't think about him so much kiddo, it'll just cause more pain"
I nodded, looking to my feet.
"Besides, you got my brother. Speaking of which, what's happening there?" she wiggled her eyebrows.
"I don't know. But, whenever he looks at me, these butterflies flutter like crazy"
"And?"
"And, I look back, and don't want to look away"
"Cutie"
"He's"
"Perfect?"
"More than that"
Lisa smiled.
"Cute, very cute" she smiled. I laughed softly and fidgeted with the end of my hair.
"Speak of the devil" Lisa smiled.
"I'm no devil, demon" Dylan laughed. I smiled. He hugged me from behind.
"And what would you be doing?" he whispered. Lisa was long gone at this point.
"Admiring the view"
"It's special alright"
"Yeah"
"Anyways, let's go on a date"
I looked at him.
"R-really?" I stuttered. Oh, clap clap Hayley, you fool. Dylan laughed and nodded.
"Yeah"
I smiled shyly and held his hand.
•••
"And then, he like, just fell" I laughed.
"Fell? Like, off the balcony? Or over the door?" Dylan asked.
"Off the balcony"
"Ouch"
"Eh, he was alright. I think"
"You think?"
"Yeah, well, we all kinda just ran away"
"Oh, nice group"
"He still doesn't talk to us"
"Oh no, I wonder why"
"Shut up"
Dylan laughed, intertwining our hands. I rested my head on his shoulder. We sat down by a fountain.
"What about you Dyl?" I asked.
"Hm?" he smiled.
"Tell me about you"
He smirked.
"I've had a pretty good life actually. Like, I'm obviously not the best looking guy, so having girlfriends has been easy, but never really had a serious one. That's really the only think that hasn't turned out good"
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, sure my parents ain't around, but I've always had Lisa"
"I feel you"
He stood, bring me to the fountain. He handed me a coin.
"Make a wish" he smiled. I closed my eyes. I wish for Dylan to always be there when I need him most. I wish for him not to hurt me. I wish for him to be gentle on my defenceless heart. I tossed the coin. It plopped and floated to the bottom. I smiled. He hugged me, kissing the top of my head.
"Wish granted" he whispered.
