"Yo! Levy!" Levy's head jerked up at the call, and she smiled. Walking along the path towards her were her brothers. You wouldn't know they were related if you looked at them, but they were still a tight-knit family, and Jet and Droy would happily kill to protect their baby sister from harm. Droy was only an inch taller than Jet, though, with his black hair in a single spike atop his head, it sometimes seemed more than that. Jet, on the other hand, was ginger, and his hair was naturally spiky and somewhat untamable. He would never, ever been seen in public without his hat, which had been a present from his now deceased mother.

"Jet! Droy!" Levy called happily, waving. Her two brothers grinned and quickened their pace until they were stood in front of her. "What are you doing out here?" Levy asked, though she was by no means unhappy about this turn of events.

Jet was the one who answered, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly. "We were worried about our baby sister, so we came to find her." Levy rolled her eyes, but said nothing as the three of them set off again.

They had barely gone a dozen paces when the undergrowth a little ways ahead exploded, and something vaguely humanoid in shape leapt out at them. Jet and Droy immediately leapt to the defensive, drawing the swords they kept on them almost all the time, and standing protectively in front of Levy.

In the moment before the beast attacked, Levy took in its appearance. It did look somewhat human, but only just. If she were going by human standards, Levy would have guessed that this beast was a man. His basic shape was human, as he stood on two legs, with two arms in roughly the right proportions. However, his legs were all wrong. At first, Levy though that his legs were simply backwards, but then she realized that the joint in the middle wasn't the knee joint, it was the thing's ankle, and he was, effectively, walking on tiptoe. Just like a wolf or something, Levy thought to herself. He only had four toes, and they were splayed to take its weight better, each one tipped in a vicious looking serrated claw. His arms looked almost human, except for the fact that, once again, instead of nails, he had long, serrated claws. His torso was wide and well built, with thick muscles rippling beneath the skin.

Except, Levy realized as the moonlight glinted off the beast before her, it wasn't skin. This beast was covered, head to toe, in silvery metallic looking scales. A pair of large black horns curled from just behind his temples, arching upwards into deadly points from within the long tangled mess of black hair that spiked out of his skull and grew to halfway down his back. His ears were higher than a human's, situated a little behind and below his horns, and they were pointed. Levy also realized, as the beast crouched, preparing to spring, that he could move his ears. They were twitching, locating his prey by the sound of their frantic breaths

His face was, again, somewhat humanoid, though his nose and mouth protruded slightly, like the beginnings of a muzzle. His lips were drawn back in a snarl, displaying a double row of viciously pointed teeth and a black pointed tongue. As he leapt, running towards them on all fours like an animal, Levy finally looked at his eyes. They were blood red, with slit pupils, and in the darkness they seemed to glow. A wild, feral gleam showed in them as he lunged towards Jet.
