"RoseAnn." He whispered her name in the darkness that surrounded him, always keeping him hidden from her sight.
"Who are you?" RoseAnn asked. No one normally said her name that way. They always called her Rose or Rosie. It always happened this way though.
"Let go of your fear." He whispered in a smooth tone. Feet scuffled and RoseAnn turned in a circle, trying to locate the voice.
"I don't know what you're talking about." RoseAnn whispered in a shaking voice, her flesh crawled with anxiety. It always did. The figure exited the shadows, his dark eyes locking with hers.
"I can help you." He purred in the lacey voice he always used when speaking to her.
"Help me with what?" RoseAnn blurted out. She took a step away from him. He crossed the little space between them with inhuman speed. His eyes were unreadable and dark as the night. He seized her arm, making RoseAnn gasp. She tried to yank away, but she couldn't move. It was like something anchored her to this spot. His skin was like a warm flame against hers. His other hand slid down her arm and he brought both her palms together.
"Use your power." He whispered and RoseAnn watched as flames flickered in her palms. She couldn't even feel the heat and her hands were never scorched.
"What are you doing?" RoseAnn asked, her eyes tearing away from the majestic flame.
"Not me," The boy responded, "you." RoseAnn shook her head. Every time she denied it.
"No, you're wrong. This is just an illusion." She said coldly. The flames in her palms flickered out. The boy frowned and RoseAnn's skin throbbed where his made contact with hers.
"Join me, join us." He whispered.
"Who? Join who?" RoseAnn practically shouted. The boy shook his head, his face shadowed with regret. He began to back away. RoseAnn scrambled to catch him before he disappeared. She was too late, she was always too late.
"Make your choice." The voice echoed through the chamber. RoseAnn braced herself against the cavern walls as they began to shake.
"Come back!" She screamed.
"Who are you?!" Rocks crashed all around her.
"My name is Kaiden."
