The final bell rings. I get my things and go before he could get to my seat. I throw my things in my backseat, I get in the front, crank the car up and go. As I'm leaving I make eye contact with Logan. He looks like I just shot him in the heart. I drove of brushing it off and head to pick up Aubrey. I pull up to the school and Aubrey gets in the front.
We head home Aubrey thinks we should go somewhere tonight to get out of the house. I just look at her and shake my head slightly. "And what would we go do on a Thursday night," I ask.
"I don't know I thought you might have that planned or come up with something," she replies.
"Always making me do the hard part," I say. We pull in our driveway and I see mom and dad outside arguing. "We aren't doing anything tonight," Aubrey complains. We get out of the car, stand there and listen. Of course they are arguing about where dad has been. I mean we would be perfectly fine without him. I would have to stay at home more after school and on the weekends but it would be worth it, if we didn't have to listen to all this arguing. I'm pulled from my thoughts when I hear dad’s truck start up and him storm out of the driveway. Aubrey and I walk over to were our mom is standing. I say "that everthing is okay," my mom crying at this point. We walk in the house and sit down on the couch my mom in the middle. I hate to tell you this but "we are better off without him," I say to my mom. She just starts crying more, then Carter runs up to her and says "mommy stop crying." I laugh a little. "Carter I can always count on you to cheer me up," mom says.A few hours later we're all at the dinner table eating pizza from Pizza Hut and laughing. My mom asks "Aubrey and I about our day."
Aubrey replies "boring and long." Then it was my turn I tell them all about "what happened with Logan" and I showed them the piece of paper he gave me with his number on it. My mom just laughs and says "maybe he actually wants to be serious with you." Aubrey just laughs. Later that night I take the piece paper out of my binder and stare blankly at it. I pull out my phone put the number in the box, in the message box I type "Hey, it's Brianna from Study Hall." I hope I don't regret this.
