⚜Chapter 2⚜

Sebastian's POV:

"Sir we have an emergency "

I stopped reading the report that I'm currently reviewing and looked at my secretary. Eriss stood in front of me with fear written all over her pale face, I can notice how her hands are trembling and how she failed to hide it from me. I can guess that whatever news she's about to tell me is bad.

"What is it?" I asked, not breaking my gaze from her.

She immediately felt intimidated and quickly looked down, a response she always do when she's nervous about something. With her voice shaking she answered "W-we have a situation, s-sir"

I counted up to three to calm myself to prevent my voice from rising, I can't count how many incompetent secretaries I've disposed for the past two years, all of them have one goal in their worthless minds and that is: to sleep with me; one of the hottest bachelors in town. Out all of them only Eriss proves herself to be useful but I am now doubting it if she's really up to the job because of her hesitation to tell me whatever that problem is. The one thing I despise the most is when someone can't follow my instructions.

"I do not wish to repeat myself, Eriss"

I saw her gulp, probably to calm herself first, before answering: "U-um, someone just called and asked for your presence sir"

"Who is it?" Patience Sebastian, remain calm and don't shout at her, don't even think of firing her.

"It is a nurse from St. Grace hospital, she is asking if you can go there right this instant."

I frowned at what she said, I still remember that day like the back of my hand. I was playing in my room with my nanny when a call broke the silence, a maid hurriedly answered it without knowing that that call will change my life forever. It's been a decade since my parents past away, they're taking a vacation in Europe when an accident happened; a drunk driver collided with theirs. The driver was arrested but it still didn't filled the gap that was missing from me since that day. My grandfather, which is my only living relative, took me in and raised me to be his heir for his billion dollar company which is one of the biggest manufacturing company in the world. We lived happily together but it looks like fate is really testing me because one day I received a call from his personal doctor two years ago that he passed away at the age of ninety four due to a heart attack. In other words, I am all alone so why is it that there is someone asking me to go to the hospital? I can't remember anyone wanting me to go there.

"Tell her to tell whoever is asking for me that I have no time for their joke and that I am a busy person" I instructed her and continued reading the report. I am sure that this whole scenario is one of the plots of my past mistresses to tie me down. This is not the first time that this has happened to me, in the past few years I am used to them saying that they're in the hospital and stuffs, one even faked a pregnancy just for my attention. All of them are the same, all they see me for is their ticket to the rich life all except one. Blast that woman! I let out an irritated sigh because of remembering her and that's when I saw that Eriss is still standing in front of me.

I heard her took a deep breath before saying: "She said that it's your wife and that she's dying."

Adrenaline is pumping through my veins, I stepped on the gas to gain more speed so that I can go there as soon as possible. I don't care if I ignored all the traffic lights I passed or if I already broke a couple of laws because nothing can stop me from reaching the hospital. This is the second time that I felt this, the feeling of not being able to do anything. The first time I felt this was the day when I received the news of my parents' death and ever since then I promised to never experience that again until I met her.
