Chapter 2: The bell test

3rd person

It was 9am and Izumo and kotetsu were walking towards the genin. Yuri narrowed her eyes at the chunin, noting the lack of lunch.

'Well then, next time they give me advice it seems I should do the opposite,' Yuri thought. Tatsuya had noticed their lack of food as well and was having similar thoughts to the short brunette. Nagisa, however, was too excited to notice something like that. Yuri noticed this as well.
'I guess we have slightly different priorities,' Yuri thought, sweat dropping.

"Good we're all here. Let's begin." Kotetsu said. Izumo pulled out two bells and handed one to kotetsu.

"Your task is simple. Get a bell and you pass, don't and you fail. Just to let you know, those who fail go back to the academy." Izumo smirked. Almost simultaneously the genin thought the same thing.

'Was that supposed to be a threat?' They thought.

"When I say go, we start.... Go!" Kotetsu said. The genin leapt into the trees. They joined back up in a tree above the chunin. They were masking their chakra but some were doing it better than others.

"Nagisa, mask your chakra better." Tatsuya said barely above a whisper.

"I can't mask it much better than this!" Nagisa hissed.

"Well, learn to!" Yuri whispered. Nagisa pouted masking his chakra as best as he could.

"If we go at them together we could get a bell and even maybe both." Tatsuya said. Yuri perked up.

"I have an idea..." Yuri started. Leaving the boys with a lightning clone, Yuri ran off into town.

"Let's go then." Nagisa said. The genin jumped down from the trees. Nagisa adjusted his brass knuckles and Tatsuya took the cork off his water pouch. The pouch was diagonal so the water didn't pour out and the clone took out a kunai. Nagisa ran at Izumo keeping him distracted while the two remaining charged at kotetsu. Tatsuya went first and made handsigns.

"Water style: water wave jutsu." Tatsuya said. A huge wave of water that had come from his pouch approached kotetsu at a rapid rate. The clone also did handsigns.

"Lightning style: Lightning stream jutsu." The clone said. A stream of lightning entered the wave of water as it approached kotetsu. He didn't have time to dodge as the wave hit him full force. While he was in shock, Tatsuya took the bell from the electrified kotetsu.

"Nagisa! Fall back!" Tatsuya called. Nodding, Nagisa jumped back to the other genin.

"Leave it to me." The clone said. With lightning quick speed, Yuri appeared before Izumo with her kunai raised. As their kunais clashed the clone dispersed into lightning traveling down Izumo's arm to the rest of his body. In his shocked state, Nagisa took the bell from Izumo.
A few minutes later Yuri returned and smiled at the boys. She knew what had happened since her clone relayed all the information to her when it was destroyed.

"Did you get it?" Tatsuya asked Yuri. Yuri nodded. Izumo and kotetsu groaned. Then genin help sit them up against a tree as Nagisa and Tatsuya held up their bells.

"Then it looks like Yuri is going back to the academy." Kotetsu said. Smirking, Yuri held up a third bell.

"What?! But how?" The chunin asked, confused.

"You said we had to get a bell to pass. I just went to the shops and bought one instead of fighting you for one. But don't worry, I left a clone with these giants while I was gone." Yuri informed. The chunin couldn't argue with the small genin. She was right, after all. The chunin exchanged a glance and smirked.

"Then we guess you three pass." Izumo said smiling.

"Now, can you get us to the hospital?" Kotetsu asked painfully. Nodding the boys picked up a chunin each as team 9 walked to the hospital. The chunin were placed on the hospital bed and the genin left to eat lunch. They promised to bring back some dango for the chunin.

A couple of hours later the hokage entered the hospital. He chuckled at the men.

"Defeated by genin?" Hiruzen said as he entered the room.

"Lord hokage!" The two said in recognition.

"Please, no need to be so formal." The hokage said. He smiled. "Are you two alright? I heard what happened from Tatsuya, Yuri and Nagisa." The sarutobi checked the clip boards at the feet of their beds.

"We're fine Lord hokage. Just got a bit of a shock that's all." Izumo reassured. The hokage laughed.

"A bit of a shock?! You two were electrocuted! You will be in the hospital for a couple of days so your body can heal." The hokage almost shouted.

"But lord hokage, what about our genin!" Kotetsu asked. It felt weird for him to call them his genin.

"If your genin can put you in the hospital, I'm sure they can handle a few days without you." The hokage reassured. About half an hour later the genin returned with their promised box of dango for the pair. They left an hour later. The hokage had told them that they had to go on missions without their senseis' for a few days so they went off for the rest of the day. The hokage told them one last thing.
