Zoey's POV

I went to his second game before school was back in session. I was now a sophomore. I would be getting my driver's license soon. It's all I thought about recently. Since Cole had practically no time to talk. The season was starting up now and I was double booked. Some nights I had both softball and hockey practice in the same night. And I was beyond tired. When Cole was able to talk I would stay up forever to talk to him. It was a hassle just to wake up in the morning. Life went on though. I finally turned 15, after all my friends had. I remember that day perfectly. I spent the whole day with Cole.

-flashback-

I woke up to Cole sitting in my room scrolling through the tv channels.

"You seem to be right at home," I laughed sitting up and rubbing my eyes

"I practically live here," he said cracking a smile

"You've only been here a few times." I laughed again pushing back the covers and getting out of bed

I walked over to the chair he was sitting in. I walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around him. I rested my head on his shoulder.

"Happy birthday gorgeous." He said looking over at me

"Thank you." I replied smiling

I let go of him and stood up straight, yawning.

"Well I need to get dressed and eat."

"I picked out an outfit already, it's in your bathroom. Try not to be too long." He said walking out of my room and downstairs

I walked to the bathroom to find what he picked out. He pulled out a pair of my light wash jean shorts, and his red land jersey. What a dork. He put some red converse on the floor. I was in and out of the shower working ten minutes. I put on the outfit and walked over to the mirror to do my hair. I put it in a French braid, and swiped my eyelashes with mascara. When I finished I quickly went downstairs to find breakfast already made. Cole left a note by the pancakes.

'Went home to get a few things. Enjoy the breakfast. -Cole xo'

'Cute,' I thought before digging in.

Once I had finished breakfast Cole had returned and held out his hand. I took his hand at the front door and followed him out to his mom's car. We hopped into the backseat where his mom greeted me. I said a hello in return and turned my attention to Cole.

"Where are we going?" I asked

"You'll see." He said

We had spent the whole day at Hershey Park. Now, believe it or not, Cole was not huge on rollercoasters. But today, that's all he would take me on. He even got on Storm Runner. Just for me. He'll probably never ride it again, but he did end up getting on with me, which was sweet. It was now nearing ten at night, and I began to get tired. His mom had come to pick us up once again, and I fell asleep in the car.

When I woke up, it was Friday morning and I was at Cole's house. I was cuddled up to him, with his right arm thrown across my waist. His mouth hung open, and I only smiled and moved closer to him. His arm tightened around my waist, and I thought that no birthday could ever top this one.

-end flashback-

It was truly the best birthday I had ever had. And I miss it. Not only my birthday or the summer, but Cole too. I'm ready for him to come back. But I knew it would be crazy. Girls would be all over him at home, and he would be going everywhere with his team. I know that after this summer, things are going to change. And I'm not ready. I'm already a massive wreck. My grades seem to be dropping with each day, and my energy level has been way too low. Occasionally I would fake being sick just to de-stress myself. Everyone needed a mental health check day. Just to themselves. It helped me. But I seemed to be needing too many this year. I was beginning to get stressed out and you could tell. I broke out all over my face, my hair began to thin, and I had lots of mental breakdowns. And I hated it. I could make it to the end of the year though, and I was going to. It was getting late tonight and my phone began to ring. It was Cole.

"Hey," I said

"Hey, oh man are you getting ready to go to bed?" He asked

"Yeah but I can sleep later."

"No, get some rest. You, uh, need it." He said

"What do you mean?" I asked

"I'm worried about you."

"Cole there is nothing to be-"

"Zoey stop I saw it."

"Saw what Cole?"

"I can see all the sign in the snapchats you sent me. The bags under your eyes, the acne, I can even see your hair thinning. And don't even try to tell me you haven't had a mental breakdown. I'm really worried about you. Please get some rest. And I will try my best to be here when you need it. I'll try my best to calm you down, make those bags under your eyes disappear, and anything else you need. Because lord knows I can't be without you. So please sleep." He pleaded

"Okay. Thanks. I love you. Like a lot." I said

"Anything for you. I love you too. Sleep well." He said and hung up.

I rolled over in my bed after placing my phone on my nightstand. I rolled around for a bit trying to get some sleep. Eventually I plugged in my headphones and put on the playlist Cole made on my phone, for nights like these. The first song that came on was, Work Song by Hozier. My favorite. I slowly allowed myself to relax and shut my eyes. Sleep soon took over and I dreamt of Cole.
