Colette woke up that morning with Shay still snuggled next to her. She thought it was weird that he didn't move at all last night, or how abruptly he went to sleep. But she didn't think anything of it. She just thought he was exhausted. After Colette got the kids to school, she got worried because Shay still hasn't waken up. She tried waking him up, but that didn't work. After Colette checked for a heart beat and didn't feel anything she called the police.
(C=Colette O=Operator)
O- You have called 9-1-1 whats you emergency
C- my husband Shay won't wake up and I can't feel a heart beat.
O-ok we are sending help on the way. Whats you address?
C- (enter address here)
O- ok. Help is on the way.
Colette's POV
I was freaking out. Shay wouldn't wake up. All I could think of is what if he goes and visits Gavin like he wanted to. I couldn't raise all these kids without him. I sat down and prayed. A lot. Once the paramedics finally arrived, I rushed outside like a mad women. Mascara running down my face, wet hair, still in pajamas.
The paramedics told me I could ride in an ambulance with him. So I did. After 5 minutes we were at the hospital. They rushed him to a room and got him set up on life support. They came back and told me I will get the results in 5 hours. 3 hours later I left the hospital to go get the kids.
Once 5 hours hit I was nervous. Emmi sensed it and came over to try to comfort me, just like Gavin did which made me cry even more. Brock tried to make me laugh, but that didn't work.
The doctors finally came out. "Butlers?" We raised our hands. "Shay Butler has sadly........."
