(Start Vision)
Fire; all I could see was the yellow, orange, red, and blue flames. This was a sign I was a fire bender. But another color became apparent as well. Black.
(End Vision)
My six-year-old mind raced as I shut up to a sitting position on my bed. The warmth of the blankets and sheets lolled me back to my slumber, but before I lost total consciousness I made a mental note to tell my mother about the strange vision. I fell into a dreamless sleep and was not woken until mid-morning.
The maid that normally took care of me hygiene-wise opened the curtains that blocked the brightness of the sun from my small, sleeping figure. I made myself pry my black eyes open to slits so the sun couldn't blind me.
I sat up reluctantly as the maid pulled the regular outfit out of my wardrobe. I grumpily stood on the cold marble floor and looked around the now bright room. My bed was in the center of the wall opposite the windows, and my twin sisters' bed right next to them, neither able to block the sun from my eyes. The small lump in the center of her bed started to move and groan, stretching its muscles and laid down comfortably to go back to its much wanted sleep.
I felt a little bit angry that she just laid there unmoving and I was already up, so I crept over to the bed identical to mine and quickly pulled off the red blanket covering her.
Azula opened her eyes groggily and looked angrily at me, as I held what had caused her warmth and comfort. " Kia, let me go back to sleep!," She whined. I giggled at her pouty, tired expression and shook my head.
She immediately added an evil grin to her features as she jumped up quickly, trying to grab the blanket, but I ran away and she followed me. We quickly ran all around the room, giggling at each other as each of us slipped and fell, sliding on our backs on the floor, coming to rest beside each other. I sighed and shook the blanket out so it covered both of us on the floor. For few minutes all we did was stare at the ceiling as the maid laughed at our antics. I rolled over on my side to look Azula in the face. " 'Zula, will we be always be best friends?"
"Of course! We are sisters, and sisters stick together, " she answered. Happy with her answer, I stood up teetering on my jelly legs, and helped my twin up off the floor. She picked up her blanket, and we both went to our personal maids to help us get dressed.
We wore the exact same clothing, as my mother and father always thought we look nice in matching clothes. We even sported the same hairstyle. We weren't identical, Azula and I, but we were twins just the same.
When the both of us are finished, we started playing tag in the hallways until Mai and Ty Lee arrived 15 minutes later.
Sometime around lunch, I remember the events of the night before, and excused myself from the cartwheel contest between Ty Lee and 'Zula. My sister looked at me quickly with a concerned expression, and I smiled reassuringly. She smiled back and continued cartwheeling. Mother was watching the turtle-ducks with Zuko. My seven-year-old brother smiled at me and waved me over. I ran over playfully and tackled him. We wrestled for a moment before I pinned him down and declared myself the winner.
Mother laughed at Zuko's red and embarrassed expression which made him turn a deeper shade of red. I stood up and went over to sit beside mom.
"Mom?" I asked as Zuko ran off to play with one of the palace guards.
My mother looked at me curiously, " What is it, dear? Did something happen?" I frowned slightly.
" I had the dream again last night." She looked concerned. " But there was something different this time! Instead of seeing just a regular flames, I saw black one! It looks so cool yet dangerous, and I don't know what it means!," I said quickly. Mom looks shocked, you could see it in your amber eyes, amber eyes I did not inherit from her or my father, Ozai.
