(Third person P.O.V)

Isabelle led her brother away from the room, where no one would hear their conversation. She thought she had her whole brother figured out, but after seeing how he acted towards Amalia, she re-evaluated. She saw the way he looked at her, and had only seen him look at one other person like that.

Alec thought the conversation was going to be about the strange incident with the seraph blade, but it instead targeted to something much more personal. They reached an abandoned hall, away from all the commotion. Isabelle stopped abruptly and turned to face Alec.

"What is going on with you?" she asked him. Alec was fazed by the question. He had been expecting a question along the lines of 'Have you ever seen anything like that?' or 'What was that about?'.

"Wait what? You're asking what is going on with me?" he reiterated. He arched his back down slightly to meet his sister's eyes more evenly, trying to find what absurdity made her think there was something wrong with him.

"Yes, you. Unless I am going crazy and someone else that looks exactly like you was going all goggly eyes on the new girl. Which, The last time I checked was not exactly your type," her voice was not angry, but accusing.

Alec now realized what this was about. His sister knew that he loved Jace, but saw the way he behaved around her. He himself was perplexed by the new feelings he experienced; feelings that he hadn't even felt, when around Jace. He had never felt this way towards a girl. He knew that Jace would look at girls in a way he could never be looked at, which often made Alec jealous, but for some reason,  Amalia, was not someone he felt threatened by. It was as if he was attracted to her, but for the longest time he thought he only liked boys.

"I was just-uh studying her. I had to make sure she was actually a shadowhunter and not a spy-or something," Alec sputtered.

"Right," Isabelle retorted sarcastically,"studying. Alec, you know you're lying to yourself." Alec rolled his eyes, but deep inside he knew she was right. With that, Isabelle went her separate way leaving a sexually confused boy to deal with his feelings about a person he had just met.

"How did this happen to you anyway?" Jace asked, breaking the silence since the siblings left. I had come up with a story that was meant to indirectly target the vampires as the culprits of my demise, knowing that bodies have been drained of blood all over New York, but really it was the Circle in association with demons that were causing these so called demonic murders.

"It started when I decided to storm out of my apartment after a fight with my adoptive mom; we never really got along. She always seemed to be hiding something from me, "I paused to let a light chuckle pass my lips, "I guess we now know what she has been hiding...It was getting dark and I didn't want to go back home, so I walked around until I could find a hotel. I found one, but it wasn't exactly in business-"

"Do you remember the name?" He took the bait.

"I-I can't remember. Why can't I remember?" I struggled, as if they made me forget.

"Just continue, I'll tell you later," he pressed, eager to find out more.

"Okay. Well, I went inside the creepy abandoned building; which is of course what any sane person would do, and tried to find a mattress or something that I could crash on. Imagine my surprise when I found that the hotel was completely furnished and looked like the inside of a palace.
