Mojo

"Mojo!!!!" Yanna ran up to me, a big smile plastered onto her face. I returned the warm smile while picking her up.

"Hey, big girl. You getting prettier every time I see you." I watched her bat her long eyelashes at me.

The whole apartment smelled lovely. I saw Tiana walk up with a grin. She looked nice. I kissed Yanna and put her down. I shot Tiana a weak smile as she walked up and hugged me. I patted her back awkwardly.

"So, how is my boo doing in school?" Tiana let me go and I went to sit on the couch. Tiana sat next to me.

"She's doing great. Her teacher says she's very bright. That's pretty obvious." Tiana smiled at Yanna, who was laying on the floor near the TV. Her head phones were in while she colored.

Yanna loves music. We use to sing karaoke every day while I was making sure they were safe. She's truly an angel. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be here right now. Yanna warms my heart.

"That's what I like to hear." Tiana giggled and faced me completely. I kept my eyes on the TV. I could her watching me.

"You haven't changed one bit. You're still the same as when I met you almost 8 years ago."

I smirked. "Actually a lot has changed since then."

"Not much. Hey, do you remember our first summer trip?" she asked.

I thought about it for a moment then smiled. "Cedar Point?"

She nodded then burst out laughing. I couldn't help but laugh. I could never forget the worst trip ever!!!

"Awww man, how could I ever forget?! I almost died."

Tiana laughed even harder. "I told you not to go on that ride. i warned you about the drop!!!"

She was right. She did warn me but I thought she was being dramatic about it. I shook my head remembering how bad my anxiety was that day on that terrible ride.

"Yo scary ass." Tiana teased.

"Naaah, I don't fuvk with heights as it is. But the drop was the worst. I almost had a heart attack. That fucking ride should be illegal." I exaggerated.

"Cut it out. Dong be so dramatic, it wasn't that bad."

"Okaaaay, Ms. Adrenaline Junkie!"

We were on s toll. Before I knew it, it was goinv on 9:30 p.m. Yanna put away all of her stuff and got ready for bed. She hugged and missed me goodnight.

"Night baby girl." I kissed her cheek again.

She rubbed her eyes. "Goodnight."

Tiana went to put her to bed. My stomach growled. I played a game on my phone while I waited for her to come back.

"So, you ready to eat? The food is ready now." Tiana stood a few feet from the couch. I got up and followed her to the dining room.

We talked about a lot over dinner, mostly about Yanna. Tiana informed me about her new job opportunity. I was happy for her.

The more we talked, the more I realized that coming tonight wasn't a bad idea. Although I couldn't get my mind off of Flow, I did feel a little better.

"So, we've been talking about Yanna and I all night. What's up with you?"

My smile faded. "I'm good."

"Anybody special?"

"Yeah, there is someone. We're ....engaged." Tiana stopped eating and sat quietly, staring at my ring.

"Oh, well that explains the lovely ring. Congrats." she took a sip of her wine.

I nodded. I won't talk about Flow. Not here. Not now. And most certainly not with my ex, who I still think has feelings for me.

We wrapped up dinner and I headed out. I reached my car and got in. All of a sudden, that good feeling I felt not too long ago was gone. Reality had set back in.

Being here today just reminded me of what I miss the most. Having someone to talk and laugh with. Flow and I use to do all of that, plus more.

I burst out in tears. I miss my best friend.
