[Aesha in the media]
Flow
"Ms. Flow?" Britney taps me on the shoulder during free draw.
Helping Aesha at the center has really brought joy in my life. These kids are amazing. There's so much talent and potential in each and every one of them. I seem to be Brit's favorite.
"What's up short stuff?" I avert my attention to her. She showed me one of her drawings. It was beautiful.
"I feel like there is something missing. I can't just put my hand on it." She stares at the picture as she bites her fingernails.
I look over her beautiful drawing. "I can't really say. Maybe add more warm colors to the flowers in the corners. And maybe a rainbow?"
I look at her. She smirks at me.
"A rainbow? This is dragon tales Ms. Flow." she jokes. It makes me giggle.
"Just own it and make it yours. Its awesome so far." I tell her and she walks back to her seat.
Aesha is painting her own picture. It looks wonderful. I walk over to where she's standing and watch.
"You're not drawing?" She stops painting and glances at me. I fold my arms.
"Nah, I do enough of that at home. I'm just here to guide, ya know."
Aesha smiles. She's really pretty. I remember her telling me that she's single. I wonder why.
"Hey, I was wondering. What do you do if someone you love wants to be back in your life?"
"Is this person an ex or friend.. or?" She asks as she puts the paint down. We walk to the back of the room so no one will hear us.
"An ex." I answer her.
"Hmm, depends."
"On?"
"His or her intentions. It depends on if you want that person back in your life, ya know. With an ex, it can be kind of tricky. Because you don't exactly know how things will turn out."
"And say you never got over this person. Like you're still madly in love with your ex."
She bites her lip for a second and squints her eyes at me.
"I don't know. I personally think that second chances can be a good thing because nobody is perfect but it all comes down to whether it'll be good or bad for the both of you." I nod.
"So, like weighing the good verses the bad. Mapping out and taking a look at each side just to see if its worth it or not?"
"Exactly." she nods. "And it also depends on if you want to get back together again or be friends."
I listen as she explains her perspective. I think of Mojo and our date tonight. It makes my insides flutter but I'm still very nervous.
"Are you okay?" she asks.
"Yeah, I guess so. Just a lot on my mind." I shake my head.
A couple of students walk up to us to show their drawings. We let everyone go early after all the drawings were finished.
Aesha and I cleaned everything up and headed out. I decided to ask her about her past.
"Why is someone like you single?"
She grins and sighs heavily. "That's a really complicated question."
I don't say anything.
"But if you really want to know, I guess I'll tell you. I'm single because I am not ready for a relationship. My last relationship was three years ago. My boyfriend left me for his ex. And it scarred me."
