because she showered me

slipped off her tongue
and into eternity
like a raindrop on a leaf
i only knew to hear
because she taught me
to hear only the softest songs
and she sang even sweeter ones
i only knew to feel
because even though i could see
all i could see was her
even though i could speak
all i spoke was her words
even though i could hear
all heard were the songs
that bounced off the walls
down the street
across the world
and back into my ears
