I looked out the window, down onto the courtyard where I saw the boys laughing and smiling. I was not allowed to go out there during the day -- I could be seen. I simply watched all the boys of the boarding school go to their classes. My curly blonde hair was set on my shoulder, tied off by a blue bow that matched my dress and eyes. For the first time since I came here, a boy looked up into my window. He stared straight into my eyes and then tapped a boy next to him on the shoulder to look up at me. In the split second he turned to face his friend, I moved away from the window so that he couldn't see me. I heard the bell ring and looked out again into the courtyard to find it empty. But, in a deep feeling in my stomach, I knew I wouldn't be alone again.
