"Maybe you've been hiding for too long, you don't realize that you're just afraid of being found."

When Camila was 6, she asked her parents to give her a baby brother or sister. She told them that a lot of the kids in their neighborhood had younger siblings to play with, to care for or even to make fun of. Someone she could do anything and everything with. And she wanted that, someone who would always be on her side.

Someone who could make her feel like she would never be alone because she hated being alone, she hated the fact that most kids tended to make fun of her bow or her crooked teeth, she hated that they didn't understand whenever she talked about galaxies or ancient creatures like Machimosaurus Rex or how awesome plantains were.

But then when Sofi came along, she started to understand things in a different light. Sofi could never be the kind of sister who she could drag around to do the same things she liked to do. Sofi would be too young to grasp certain things and then Camila realized that being a big sister was more than just having someone to play with.

A sense of protectiveness emerged in her as she wrapped her arms around her baby sister for the very first time, bundled up in a soft pink blanket with her tiny frail fingers reaching out for her and it had only grown stronger from that point on. Camila started to learn how to worry, to care for needs other than hers and how to love someone so unabashedly and unconditionally.

Being a big sister had taught her to put someone else first.

She thought that had she had a sibling close to her age, she wouldn't learn everything she had learned so far when it came to sisterhood. The dynamic would be different. She would probably bicker more with her sister about the silliest things. She would be selfish at times and wouldn't feel the need to care too much about her sister's well-being, let alone her sister's feelings.

But as she was now standing awkwardly beside her girlfriend, she started to wonder if maybe she had assumed wrong. Or maybe it was because they were twins that the relationship between them surely felt a lot like the one she had with sister. Well not exactly the same, obviously. But she never thought that one could be so protective towards a sibling their age.

Her girlfriend had always been passionate about things, mostly about her music but aside from that Mikaela rarely showed so much interest, in any way, towards a person (aside from herself, of course). So really, it was kinda weird to see how fixated she was towards any and every movement or action Lucy did around Lauren.

Mikaela was watching the girl with a sharpness of a hawk and Camila was worried that her eyes would soon bulge out of their sockets. She couldn't be the only one who sensed the tension swaying in the air between them, right?

"So, what does everyone feel like watching?"

Camila turned her gaze to Lauren, finding the girl looking at her and Mikaela with expectant look on her face. She was glad that Lauren hadn't gotten too upset with them being there, crashing on her date with Lucy. But then again, Mikaela had lied so effortlessly, ridding any suspicion Lauren might have had towards them.

She was kinda scared to learn that Mikaela could easily lie if situations demanded her to do so. But she decided to let it go, judging that it was rather a unique situation they had put themselves in. She had agreed on supporting Mikaela's mission so she would just play along with everything and observe Lauren's date, measuring her up.

She really hoped that Lucy wouldn't turn out to be some sort of douche; Lauren only deserved someone as amazing as she is.

Mikaela shrugged nonchalantly. "Anything really, I told you Mila and I didn't really have any plan, we just impulsively decided to go out. But we're happy to have bumped into you and Lucy."
