Chapter Two
"Hey! Wait! Don't go!"
I heard myself shout. Shouting to a guy in white tee who turns his back at me. I tried to run towards him and try to reach him. He looked back at me, but the white light that consumed him is so strong that I can't even see his face.
*Vibration*
Ugh. My phone is vibrating against the lamp table that caused an annoying sound. I turn my body to the other way and covered my head with a pillow, ignoring the sound. But it just won't give up. So I answered it.
"What?" I say lazily.
"Thank goodness! I had been calling you five times now. Come outside. Jay and I will show you something. Important than sleeping. " Enn demanded from the other line.
So I rolled off the bed and pulled my hoodie, and then I ran outside to check what the heck they will show me.
"Boo!" I tried to surprise them...
"Shh!" they both hissed at me. They didn't even get the allure.
We headed to the junkshop, a few blocks away from Danville, until we reach Springville. Springville is our neighboring village. Wow, we reach it by foot.
They were both too serious while walking, sometimes half-jogging. I kept on asking them what is the fuzz about but they just ignore me and shut my mouth up.
We stopped, finally, in a place that smelled really unpleasant-- flies were attacking us, and we should not move a lot, or else we'll bump into some rusted irons. Gross.
We hid silently.
Then Enn finger pointed a lady in a long dark cloak, head covered with hood. She's kneeling and it seems like she's praying to her invisible god.
"It's her." Enn whispered. "The librarian."
Then the lady stood up and raised a dissected animal. Jay almost vomits but tried to not release a single sound. Or else we'll be busted.
I guess the three of us were staring at the animal too long that we didn't notice her disappeared. Like disappeared in a gasp.
When we realized she disappeared, we eyed one another. Then in horror, we raced back home.
Jay started a conference call.
"What was that about?!" I asked the two since they're the ones who invited me into it.
"I guess she is a cult leader." Enn said. Completely ignoring me.
"I think so, too." Jay spoke.
We can still hear each other's heavy breath.
"How did you girls knew about it? How did you know it's the librarian? We didn't even see her face." I asked.
"Mom told me to lock our gate when I saw the librarian passed by our house. She even saw me. The cloak is already on her, it adds to my curiosity. That's how I knew it's her. I called Jay and asked to sneak out with me because I cannot reach you. You didn't answer any of my calls. So when my parents were fast asleep, POOF! "
"I can't believe that's how curious you are." I commented.
"I think we should investigate about her. I mean, before she could recruit innocent students into her cult." Jay suggested.
"Yeah, maybe we should. It's a call of nature." Enn agreed.
"Girls, it's two in the morning and we have class tomorrow. We should go to sleep." I say.
