Somewhere deep in the mind of the young brunette, a dream demon patiently waited for the girl to fall asleep and return to his evil clutches...
The morning light gently roused the young boy from his slumber, his eyelids heavy from sleep. Dipper groggily sat up in bed rubbing his eyes as they glanced over to the side of the room. His sister's disheveled bed lacked her usual resting form, and he wondered where she could have gone. Quickly pulling on his vest and shoes, he hopped down the attic stairs and into the kitchen where his sister was sitting at the table. "Hey Mabel, whatcha up to?" Dipper asked his twin sister.
"I'm k-nitting!" Mabel said pronouncing the k separately. A giant ball of yellow yarn sat by her side as she knit faster than the speed of light. Her tongue stuck out of her mouth as she worked with an intense concentration on the sweater.
Dipper opened the silverware drawer and pulled out a fork, "Haha okay, but where did all the k-nifes go? I need one for my waffle." He pulled out the syrup from the fridge and set it next to the iron.
"I don't k-now Dipper!" Mabel said dropping the needles from her hands and shrugging overdramatically.
Grunkle Stan walked in sleepily and bumped into the table. "Ow! My k-nee!" he yelled causing Mabel and Dipper to laugh. He laughed along with the two. "Morning kids!" he greeted with a grin before starting to cook up some breakfast. Mabel, on the mean hand, continued to knit the sweater, her mind drifting back to the dream she had last night. Why was Bill there? What did he want from her? To be her friend? After the events of the sock opera, there was no way she was going to trust Bill. She would have to be cray cray to do that.
"Hey Mabel, is everything alright?" Dipper questioned with a concerned expression. Mabel had been frowning for five straight minutes and she rarely got this upset over something. When she didn't respond he hesitantly asked, "Is there something on your mind?" He sincerely hoped that it was just trouble with another guy and not something of the Gravity Falls weirdness sort.
She looked up at him furrowing her eyebrows, "No, why would you say that?" She tilted her head to the side looking at her brother in confusion.
"Ummm, no reason," he said with uncertainty even though he didn't believe his sister. Despite the fact that she was a better liar than him, he always could tell when she was upset. "Seriously though," Dipper said coughing to break the uncomfortable silence, "Where did all the knifes go?" Mabel gave an innocent shrug, her mind wandering back to a few days ago.
"You guys ready for the most ultimate game of croquet ever!" Mabel exclaimed as she threw her arms into the air. Standing at the back door of the Mystery Shack were two of her bestest friends in the entire world.
However, the two had long faces in contrast to their usual cheery expressions. "I'm sorry Mabel," Candy said in her sweet Korean accent. "But I couldn't find all the pieces to it. We cannot play." She hung her head in shame, her black locks falling over her face.
"Sure we can!" Mabel motivated. Both Candy and Grenda gave her a puzzled expression. "We'll wing it! That's my life motto," she continued, putting her hands on her hips. "Did you study for the test? Nope, I'll wing it! How are we going to get across? We'll wing it! What do you want for dinner? I'll wing it."
Her two friends giggled, "But we don't have any of the loops for the balls to go through," Candy said adjusting her glasses. Mabel perched her lips, contemplating as she stared at the grassy ground. Suddenly an idea came to her and her face lit up.
"Leave that to Mabel," she said running inside the shack. When she returned she had several knifes and some duct tape. With her friends' help, she taped the knifes together to create a makeshift croquet course. "Problem solved!" Mabel declared proudly. Using golf clubs as croquet mallets, the three girls played a surprisingly smooth game until it was Mabel's turn. As they waited with bated breath, she placed the ball on the ground while laying on the grass, eyeing it. She stood up brushing herself off, before yelling "Fore!" and hitting the ball hard with her golf club.
