They say that ignorance is bliss, but just as blind.
Soon Shooting Star will learn the truth is not as kind...
"Oh, yeah? Well I'm not listening!" Mabel yelled at the yellow demon that was chasing her around the mindscape. Whenever he tried to talk, the young brunette simply plugged her ears and hollered at the top of her lungs. "Lalala, I'm not listening to you!" Bill groaned in irritation of her childish antics. At this rate, she'll never trust me, he said in his mind. While Mabel aimlessly ran around her dream world with her eyes shut, Bill desperately tried to catch up with the girl. I don't even know what I said to set her off, he thought as he followed her. One minute we were talking, the next she was yelling at me! Women are the real mystery of this world.
Tired of repeatedly running around the table, Bill suddenly stopped. "Enough!" he yelled as his entire body turned red. Quickly turning around, he grabbed Mabel as she ran into him. Surprised, she took her hands off her ears and her eyes snapped open. Immediately realizing she had been caught, Mabel began struggling to be released. However, Bill's hold was strong and he kept the girl still. "What is your problem, Star?" he asked annoyed.
"You! You're my problem!" she said squirming in his arms. She kicked at him with all her might, but to no avail.
"What did I ever do to you?" he asked confused. All of a sudden, he yelped in pain as Mabel sunk her teeth into his hand. Out of surprise, Bill let go of her and she landed hard on her butt.
Rubbing his injured hand, Bill shot Mabel a glare who shot him one back as she picked herself up. "Well for one, you gave me nightmares!" She said angrily, putting her hands on her hips. "Two, you invaded my uncle's mind," she held up two fingers which became three as she continued her statement. "And three, you possessed my brother!"
Bill rolled his eye, "Two of those things weren't even done directly to you, and there's no proof I did the third. I still don't understand why you don't trust me."
Nearly on the verge of screaming, Mabel pulled on the ends of her hair in frustration shouting, "Because you're evil!"
Bill pretended to look hurt by her outburst. "I prefer the term 'Highly intelligent yet chaotic being that just wants to have fun,'" he said making quotation marks with his hands.
"You don't have to be evil to have fun," Mabel countered. "You can learn to be friendly and blah blah blah, blah blah." She then went off on a tangent about how you can have fun without hurting people.
Ignoring her, Bill turned his attention to one of the many gardens that littered the imaginative girl's dreamscape. His eye was drawn to a group of flowers that were fighting with each other. Picking the nearest one, he chuckled when it blew fire at him. He smiled slightly as he twirled the snapdragon around in his fingers. "Just listen to her," he said to no one in particular. "Here she is trying to explain friendliness to me, when I'm not even listening. She's too nice for her own good..." A twisted grin spread across his face as he came up with an idea, "Which makes it the perfect opportunity for me!" He abruptly lost his smile, and started to fabricate a sob story.
"You don't understand, Star," he said stopping her rambling. "You have friends and a family that loves you. That's more than I have. I was raised without hugs, puppies, and birthday parties with clowns." Turning away from her, he paused for dramatic effect. "I didn't choose this life. I was pushed away by the people closest to me and now! Now I walk this path alone." He stole a glance over his shoulder to see Mabel looking at him with teary eyes. No clowns? He heard run through her mind, See? He's not evil he's just misunderstood! I wish I could help. He quickly smiled to himself before continuing his false facade. Shielding his face with his hand, he let out an overdramatic cry, "Ohhh! If only I had someone to show me the way, to teach me right from wrong, to help me see the light, someone I could call friend..."
