Shaylee's POV
We walk through the woods all four of us with me and Gabe leading the way hand in hand. The kiss we had earlier was amazing and I wish we could do it again right now but the other two are behind us.
We finally come to the path and we walk the way to the village but soon I stop dead in my path.
"Shay what's wrong?" Gabe asks with fear in his eyes.
I look fear covering my face at the gate. My mouth dropped open and I probably look like a sheet of paper.
Gabe lets go of my hand and puts them in my shoulders. "Shaylee what's wrong?" Fear now covers his voice.
I lift my hand and point at the gate. "The gate." I say my voice quivering.
"Yeah it's open what about it?" As soon as he says that a bloodcurdling scream fills our ears.
Before i answer I run around him and towards the village. The gate should never be open.
Once in I almost turn and leave. Blood. It covers the ground. Bodies. They lay in different ways covering the streets.
I walk in the middle of the lane stepping over lifeless bodies. I look to my left and my right and for some reason tears never threaten my eyes. I then come to a little girl payed down dead. He hair golden and eyes still open and green. And lifeless. I bend down and close her eyes and move a stray piece of hair.
I then stand up and walk on down the street. I then come upon my house. The doors wide open and blood trailing in. I go to the door and just stand. There right inside lays my dad. A smile creeps upon my face. I walk in and step over his lifeless body and go into the kitchen.
That's when tears sting my eyes. "Mom?" I croak out. She lays on the floor flour in her hair and she's barley breathing. I fall to my knees and put her head on my lap.
"I'm okay. It's okay Shaylee." My mom says her voice dry. Blood covers her body mostly her chest and her throat.
"Mom I'm sorry." I manage to say.
"No I'm sorry." She says tears covering her eyes. "I should have been an better mother."
Tears fall from both her and my eyes. "No mom you was an good mother. I'm so sorry for not being here." I cry out.
"No no. I'm glad you wasn't here when they attacked." She says breathless.
"Who's they?" I ask.
"Wolves." She says as she grabs her neck and my hand. "I'm so sorry my child. I love you." She says as the life flows from her eyes and body and she becomes limp.
"Mom!" I scream shaking her. "Mom no! Wake up! I love you I need you." I sry out even though I know she's already gone.
I stand and close her eyes. I wipe away the tears from her face and leave my house. Everyone in this damn village is dead. Not one sound fills the air.
Well actually there is a sound. I strain my ears and I hear a cry. A baby cry. I walk to the house on the other side of the street. There's three bodies surrounding the door. Two men and a woman. The doors locked of course so I check under the "Welcome" mar and find a key.
I unlock the door and walk in. I follow the sound upstairs and at the end of the hallway I find a door. I open it and find a baby boys room. It's a light blue color and I here along with the baby an music box. I walk to the middle of the room and find the baby boy. He's crying and his face is red.
"Hey there." I say softly. He looks up and stops crying and reaches for me.
I pick him up and he grabs for my hair. After he quiets down I hear another cry. I follow it to the door to the left of this room. I open it to find a girls room. It's pink with a big bed in the middle. I go to the closet where I hear the cries from and find a girl curled in a ball.
"Please d-don't hurt me." She chokes out.
"I won't hurt you. Come out please." I say softer than when I was talking to the baby.
She looks up and then slowly comes out. The baby laughs and reaches for her so I let her have him.
"What happened here?" I ask sitting on her bed motioning for her to come sit beside me.
"Wolves. I was getting ready to make breakfast when I heard screaming. I ran to the door and opened it. I looked out and there was black and brown wolves running around killing people. I then looked to my left and seen one running right at me. I locked the door and ran to the kitchen for a knife. I ran up here to check on Connor the baby." She says. "I'm Vennessa by the way. When I seen he was still asleep I ran back to the door. I looked out the window by the door and and..." Tears form in her eyes.
"You don't have to tell me Vennessa." I say hugging her.
"Is there anyone left?" She asks looking up at me.
"No." I say plainly. The tears fall freely from her eyes and she leans into me. Connor starts crying since she is.
"Promise you won't ever leave me." She says looking up at me.
"I promise. Now let's get out of here I have three other waiting on me."
"What three others who?" She asks.
"They live in the woods and they found me and brought me home." I say standing up and extending my hand.
She wipes away her tears before getting up. "How old are you?" I ask.
"I'm 14." She says. "And Connor is 2."
We walk out of the house and are greeted by the boys and she hides behind me.
"Boys this is Vennessa and Conner. Vennessa this is Gabe Kevin and Rico." I say motioning to them as I said their names.
"Hi Vennessa." Gabe says bending down to her level. "I'm Gabe. You can come out we won't hurt you."
She sidesteps from around me and stand beside me. "Hi." She says grabbing my cape.
"Well boys we need to leave here in case they come back." I take Gabe's hand and pull him with me.
"Are you okay?"'he asks wrapping his arm around my waist.
"Yeah I'm fine she's not though." I say looking behind me to look at Vennessa who's talking to Rico it looks like their having a good conversation.
"She'll be okay but how are we going to take care of them?" He asks.
"Just like you did me." With that we all walk to the cave in silence with the only noise of Rico and Vennessa talking.
