Walking down the halls, he was greeted by many familiar faces. All were smiling at him but none bore the same warmth he felt with Ella. He couldn't feel even an ounce of emotion from them. It was then that he thought that he must've been like them too before he met Ella.

"Good Day! Lord Elzer! It is such a pleasure to have met you when you just returned." A woman, Elzer thought might be a Goddess, curtseyed as she smiled softly.

"Ah, Yes. You too." Elzer bowed before he went on his way without having as much as glance her way. He felt that the nonsense pleasantries were not worth his time now. If he weren't summoned by his very own mother then he would not even set foot in the vicinity of Vanaheim.

"Lord Elzer." Another, a servant, greeted him and was about to continue with her chores when he stopped her.

"You."

The servant jolted a bit, clearly afraid of him, but nonetheless bowed deeply for him.

"Yes, my lord?"

"Is the Goddess Freyja in her room?"

"No, my Lord, Goddess Freyja is in the room." The servant answered emphasizing the word, knowing full well that Elzer would understand it.

Elzer nodded his head, already figured out where his mother was, and dismissed the servant. He immediately headed for the said room and knocked three times before he pushed the door open.

"Ah~ My dearest son." Freyja said in her motherly yet empty voice and opened her arms as if inviting Elzer.

Elzer did as his mother silently suggested and embraced her lightly. There was something about his mother that made it impossible for anyone to defy her.

It might be her terrifying aura.

Elzer thought to himself as he watched his mother bask herself in a violet smoke from the cauldron.

"Ah Yes! Hecate! Come here my dear." She suddenly exclaimed and from behind the dark crimson curtains a woman, so beautiful and mysterious, emerged and curtseyed low. "I believe you have not seen my son before?"

"Well, Goddess Freyja, I have not seen him personally but I have already seen him from one of the readings." Hecate answered while keeping her low curtsey and bowed head, intentionally avoiding any eye contact from both Elzer and his mother.

"Oh, that reminds me. Please do tell me, who's the strongest and most beautiful ruler of all?" Freyja asked her while she carefully and elegantly strode towards her high-backed chair.

"Umm.. I am sorry, Goddess Freyja, but as long as the Asynja princess is alive, she will forever be the strongest and fairest ruler of all." Hecate answered.

This surprised Elzer. Although he did agree to the words the mysterious lady just said, he was not aware that Ella rivaled even his mother, who was a Goddess that remained young through all the centuries. He whipped his head towards the Goddess, who sat at her chair with a calm demeanor, and prepared for an expected angry outburst when nothing came.

"Hmm. I see but that will soon change as my child here, Elzer, will put an end to her life. Right, my dearest?" Freyja said with a smile and turned to him.

"Well.. that thing.. Mother, I cannot comply to your wish." Elzer confessed and hung his head in shame and disappointment. "I.. I have.."

"YOU CANNOT LOVE AN AESIR!" A flare of pure hatred erupted from Freyja as she suddenly appeared before Elzer, with him up a few meters from the ground because of her hold, and stared right through him with bright red irises.

"I originally did not want to believe Hecate's words because I trusted that you would do your job. But you! Not only did you disobey me, you disgrace me!!" Freyja cried and flung Elzer to the wall and pinned him there with an invisible force.

"Remember your roots very well, Elzer. You are a Vanir, the prince of Vanaheim, that girl is an Aesir, the princess of that wretched Asgard, you cannot hope to love someone from that clan. I do not want you to stoop down to them and be their slave. You are my son, right? You wouldn't want your mother getting upset, right?"

"Mo-Mother... I... Ella.. Ella never cared.. whether I was a Vanir... She... She accepted me.. and befriended me... I.. I also do not.. care... if she's an Aesir... because Mother... Mother I love her." Elzer spoke despite the pressure on his neck getting heavier everytime he spoke. His words only further angered Freyja and she stabbed him at his heart.

Elzer coughed blood as he could feel her stab was only halfway in- not too deep to claim his life. If Hecate did not call out to his mother, Freyja, then he would most likely be dead right then.

"Your highness, I strongly advise that you do not kill him." Hecate spoke.

"Don't tell me what to do Hecate. I am not in a nice mood to be lenient right now. You are just a servant. Remember your place!" Freyja cried and pinned Hecate on the wall behind her with an invisible force, much like Elzer's, as well.

"Yo-Your highness!! I.. I know it's.. not my.. place but.. Lo-Lord Elzer.. he is still.. useful!" Hecate tried to get Freyja to listen to her.

This piqued the Goddess' interest and released Hecate from being bound. Hecate coughed a few times and gently massaged her throat where she thought would most likely be severed from her body.

"Speak!" Freyja demanded.

"Lo-Lord Elzer! He-He's acquainted with the Asynja princess, right? He.. He can help you get close to her and strike her efficiently!"

"What are you trying to get across, Hecate?"

"T-The Lord and the princess is most probably already close. I-I know she trusts Lord Elzer so.. if you just bewitch or put him under a spell to be completely under your control regardless of his will, yo-you.. you can get close to the princess and kill her!" Hecate suggested, her voice quick and desperate.

This interested Freyja as she pulled out her hand from Elzer's chest and the latter coughed more blood before he was dropped down to the stone floor.

"That is indeed interesting. You have indeed outdone yourself, Hecate. Be glad." Freyja praised her as she wiped her bloodstained hands with a cloth and burned it after a flick of her hand. She returned to Elzer and cupped his cheeks harshly and made him look at her.

"This is good. Now, you must've heard what Hecate said although you're probably starting to lose consciousness right now. It wouldn't be fun if I took away all your will, right? So let's have it like this. I'll leave you conscious but you will be unable to speak, unable to warn your beloved princess about the threat to her life and unable to control whatever you do. From this point onward, you are now my puppet, my dearest son." Freyja said and, as if her words itself were the curse, she placed her seal on Elzer's forehead with a devilish kiss.

"Now, let me see the face you'll make when I make you kill the very girl you love." Was the last Elzer heard before he passed out from too much loss of blood.
