Chapter 9: Dragon slayer

Dscore's pov

We all were on our way to the invasion mountains. Bill had to be there. A castle wouldn't just appear there out of nowhere. Right? Anyways, there was a shortcut through the forest that we decided to take. We found a clearing in the forest where we decided to rest for a snack break. Walking on foot really tires people out, especially us with all the stuff we carry. I sat down on the ground and pulled out an apple. I was about to take a bite, when I heard an arrow wiz past my head and hit the apple right out of my hand. I looked to where it came from, pull out my pistols, and shot twice into the general direction. I don't think they hit, but I did see movement in the bushes. "It's an ambush!" I yelled to the group. They all drew their weapons just before another arrow came flying at me. I dodged barely to the left but the arrow scratched my shin. Awakened and Denis ran towards where it came from, but I knew better. There had to be more people, so I waited for another arrow so I would have a different target and we could spread out the damage and avoid getting swarmed.

Denis's pov

We ran towards the archer. We heard the footsteps running from us. "He's getting away!" Awakened's soul stone lowers her speed so I got ahead and turned a corner and...the enemy and I came face to face. He seemed to be dressed like robin hood without the green. "Who are you?" "Look, I didn't want to hurt you, we just want-" "I don't care! You will pay for attacking my friend!" I charged with my rapiers and left my shield on my back. He launched another arrow and I turned around and blocked with my shield. The arrow pierced it and hit my back. It stung like hell! What arrows is this guy using?

He must be an incredibly high level to pierce a shield like butter. I spun back to face him, and thrusted my rapier at him. He blocked with a tiny little dagger and kicked me in the face away from him. He shot another arrow, right in the shoulder! This was seriously getting annoying.

"FLAME BOMB" I threw a fire bomb at him, but he shot it the second it left my hand and it exploded in my face. I wiped the smoke from my eyes and....

"SNIPE SHOT" I stronger arrow flew right at my head, I ducked down and it hit a tree behind me.

"ERUPTION" The ground exploded under him and he dodged to the left. Just hitting this guy ONCE would be an accomplishment.

"FLAMING THRUST" My rapiers were engulfed in flames and I lunged right at him. He prepared to shoot me while charging, but I was ready.

"FIRE BOOSTER" I ignited fire under my feet and flew up into the air above him. I thrusted my rapier at him from above.

"OVERHEAD THRUST" I stabbed into the ground. He still dodged it!

"RAPID SHOT" He shot a barrage of arrows my way. I jumped to the right, but forgot to pull my weapon out of the ground. I only have one sword now! I have no choice. I hoped I wouldn't have to do this, but...

"YOUNG PHOENIX MONSTER SOUL, 1ST FORM" Wings grew out of my back, burning with beautiful colors. I grew talons on my hands and feet, and my skin burned with fury. I charged at the archer.

"PHOENIX FIRE DASH" I lunged at him with my talons. He tried to dodge, but my keen eyes tracked his movements and I struck him across the chest. His scratch burned in agony. I then charged at him again, ready to end this. But then.....

"WIND GARUDA TORNADO" A massive wind blew me away out of nowhere. I was blown away from him into the air, where he had a very clear shot at me. I couldn't move, there was nothing I could do!

"MASS SNIPE SHOT" He loaded 3 arrows at once and fired all three snipe shots at me. They hit my face and I fell to the ground, slowly changing back to normal. He managed to defeat my phoenix form! I was going to die here!

Dscore's pov

No more arrows came my way. Instead, I saw a young girl. She was probably about 16 years old. She wore white robes and had a scepter filled with light healing magic. "Who are you?" "...." She bit her thumb, struggling to talk. "Um....I'm Lili. My friend and I..we came here because you killed our dragon, and...we can't let that go!" She held up her scepter threateningly. Is she for real? A healer fighting a gunslinger? There is no way I could lose here. "Look, Lili, why don't you just-"

"LIGHT GOD'S HAMMER" I giant hammer made out of light fell from the sky and almost hit me, but I dodged out of the way. "Alright then, I guess we do this the hard way.......
