"And as Goldman rushed out of the burning fire with the triplets in his hand; they only sustained minimal injuries; bringing this story to a happy ending. I'm Carla Santiago, and have a wonderful night Seattle."
Finally the most dreadful job of being a field reporter had come to an end: actually reporting it. Carla Santiago worked for the Seattle night news station with hopes of actually making it to a network. But she lost the battle all to soon.
"Andy, flick me a cigar. I need to make sure I can forget about all of this", Santiago shamefully said.
"You know it wasn't that bad. A little embarrassing but definitely not shameful."
"I'm not talking about that, everybody knows and their talking about replacing me."
"With who? We have a whole viewership of 12 people. that is so many!"
"I hate you."
Santiago and cameraman Andy were pretty close. They had been working together for almost eight years and knew everything about each other; their secrets, desires, and interest. Even the dark ones. The whole crew sat in the back of a white news van, all taking a smoke break; well except for segment producer Oliver Pace. He was always bitter towards Santiago especially. Nobody knew why. As the night progressed, they found themselves drinking to Oblivion. Except for Oliver. He waited until the moment came when he knew that he would have to drag the wasted crew back to their separate addresses.
Adam, the sound guy was sicker than a dog and could barley speak, but was final request was to check the game cores. While the bartender was surfing through the channels, he came upon a station that interested him; much to Adam's dismay.
"We interrupt this regularly scheduled program to bring you special news; I'm Ann Curry with a story that will shock you. In the town of Grand Falls, all members of the local church have been found dead in several different spots in the small town."
"Wait what?' Santiago said all drowsy.
"All but 13 people in this town her found dead in different ways, from self mutilation, or a shot through the head. Even the mayor was found dead; hung from a tree in the city park. The 13 survivors were some how sparred from this harm. Which they all say is because they don't attend the church"
Santiago now fully paying attention to the news bulletin. She was near half to tears. She could recognize one of the many victims faces, as her mother's. She left the bar in a panic and ran in high heels causing excruciating pain and ignored it; rushing to her apartment. Once she reached the impending door, she scattered to find her missing keys and managed to succeed. She roughly picked up her landline and called her father. Their conversation lasted hours.
The next morning, Santiago came to work with two beverages in her hand. A Starbucks coffee, And a half empty bottle of Jack Daniels. As she walked to her desk, she could see Carl Baileys talking to Christine. News anchor for an actual network. He was asking if she could cover the story about the massacre at Grand Falls. She happily replied yes while Santiago stood in the corner breaking her coffee cup. In once the show had begun she walked to Carl's office to ask "politely" about asking to cover the story. About 10 minutes went buy when Santiago finally came out of the office with bruised knuckles.
"Christine get out, the massacre story is mine now so go die.'
The whole crew gave a very puzzling look.
