Chapter 4
Georgiana
She couldn’t sleep.
Every time she did it, Kallum would be there, sneering over the top of her, her screams and the smell of her own blood would fill her senses. Every time her eyes closed, she could feel his claws inside her, cutting into her flesh, dragging them up and trailing fire and pain up her body
His black eyes stared down at her—
Georgiana gasped and sat up in her bed, panting heavy.
She was far away from him. Yet he felt like he was right there. It always felt like that
You’re mine. Pettamesh, you’ll always be mine.
Something was tearing in the middle of her chest and Georgiana bent over her damaged form, trying to shield herself somehow from him and the memories.
She could never escape.
Her eyes travelled to her window. The early morning night, the tall high trees and wide space calling to her. As much as she would love to, her injuries were too new to do anything really.
He had deliberately disabled her, made her even more vulnerable than usual. That he was in charge, not her.
She had gone for a needed run yesterday. It had just turned into a quick walk though.
It wasn’t nearly enough to satisfy her other skin, but it was enough to take that claustrophobic anxious feeling from her though. And it would have to wait a few more days again.
They had to be careful.
Turning her head away, it landed on her slightly agar bedroom door.
The hall room lights were on.
Georgiana smiled. The twins were scared of the dark still.
Apparently so was she.
She got to her feet, wrapping an arm around herself when the cool air of the house reached her skin making her shiver. Her brothers wouldn’t mind if she stole some of their heat and peace of mind for one night surely?
In the end, she had just had had enough of being alone.
Her room was down the hall in the middle of all of her brothers. When she was 5 and Amaury and herself had been arguing for at least a week on the same topic, because he wanted her to move into his room and she hadn’t wanted to. Of course he had won though. Telling her there were monsters under her bed, but she had bought the story all the same.
Looking back on it, it was really quiet ingenious of him, though she would never admit it to him. He had done it because he was the oldest of the two of them, so he felt he had to be a protector of her.
Then again, Harper and Noel were 2 years younger than her and they were exactly the same.
Georgiana grinned, as she looked down each side of the corridor. They had to ‘protect her from behind’ they had reasoned with them. so their room was further down than hers.
She eyed the doors, all but the youngest twins’ doors were open, considering which one she should go into. That was the rule they had always had. A door open meant free reign, and it wasn’t unusual for them to have jump into each-others beds.
Her decision came down to Amaury or Dolf. Matt was too tired tonight, he was always the quieter one of them all though.
Amaury would get upset if she didn’t go into his room, Georgiana contemplated carefully. But he had been just as tired as Matt.
Her eyes flickered back across to Dolf’s inviting door, biting her lip. Dolf was always the big family guy in the family. He was always the one that would take charge, who they would all look up to. Any of her brothers would do to ease her mind, for the rest of the night though, she would go to him though.
Georgiana peaked into Amaury’s room as she passed it. She could see him spread out across the bed, his red hair almost glowing from the hallway light as it shone in. He was asleep with no care in the world though, and Georgiana smiled with relief, at his ignorance.
Amaury looked so comfortable where he was though, even with his bed sheet and body everywhere. She’d go to him next time. Georgiana had an urge to go and peak at the twins room, but she didn’t. they always seemed to remind her of kittens the way they slept all curled up and almost mewing in their sleep. It was adorable.
Dolf was looking just as comfy and disorganized as Amaury, only he was bigger and older. That just made it look all the more cuter though, and Georgiana smiled fondly. Even he looked just as peaceful as Amaury. As she creeped closer though, Georgiana noted the hard lines on his face.
He had lost that sense of innocence on him too, and she couldn’t help but feel it was her fault.
Simply staring at his unconscious form, tracing his etched face, the dark eyes, the slightest of frowns. Did she look like that as well? His words had surprised her in her room, and the way his eyes had suddenly almost drawn right through her own, as if he could look right through her, hadn’t been expected.
And if he had suspected something, which she knew he did, Matt would be right there with him, with Amaury not far behind she suspected.
It seemed she would need to watch herself close, and keep her secret even closer.
Gently, Georgiana pulled one of his arms from his chest away and snuck in between. Reaching under his knees then, she lifted the sheet over their bodies before pulling his free arm over her back onto his chest and pushing her cold feet in between his legs. Snuggling in tight.
Dolf’s body shifted a little and both of his arms moved to surround her more securely. As she began to drift off to sleep, Dolf spoke.
“Man I’ve missed this” she heard him say, and she gave in to unconsciousness willingly.
“My door was open, you snuck around” Amaury’s groggy voice pulled Georgiana from her sleep, more an accusation than a fact. It didn’t take her long to realize the dark hard cocoon around her was Dolf and she was in his room.
“You were so sleepy,” Georgiana turned around wiping her eyes to face her brother leaning against the door scowling a little at her. “I didn’t want to wake you up” she defended herself
Amaury continued his little scowl before he huffed and pushed off the door, uncrossing his arms. “I expect to find you in my bed next time. Doors open for a reason, you know that” he scolded, but relented
“I know,” Georgiana replied softly, still watching him, then his back as he left. He was upset.
“You scared him”
She turned back around and faced an awake Dolf, resting her head on his arm he had moved in the night underneath her.
“How bad was it Dolf” Georgiana found herself asking. She knew he knew what she was referring to. Just like he knew what he meant by that comment.
“Not good Georgiana. Not good at all”. She waited for him to continue, but that was all he said.
She had a feeling he wasn’t going to elaborate.
Guilt brewed in her stomach at that knowledge. Amaury had thought for however long of a moment then, that she was gone again. She had seen it in his eyes, in the tightness of his body, even as he tried to hide it behind nonchalance.
She wasn’t the only one that was affected by their parents’ ill move.
“I'm sor-”
“-Don’t you dare.” The sudden harshness in Dolf’s voice shocked her quiet, eyes wide. Georgiana looked away. She had almost expected to hear that familiar snarl Kallum would always give her when he got made… followed by a cuff or some sort.
Dolf rested a hand on her cheek, Georgiana couldn’t help the shiver that passed her. “We had better get up” she told him quietly, still not looking.
She feared she would see black eyes there too.
