Chapter 4

I finally came to and looked around realizing it was getting dark. I was probably late for my date with Cameron. I rushed home thinking that I was soaked again for the second time today. The ground had been wet from the rain earlier today. I walked into the kitchen and breathed a sigh of relief that no one was around. I took the back staircase that led only to the fourth floor to insure I didn't run into anyone.

Once in my room I threw on clean dry jeans and a black hoodie. I brushed my wet hair into a ponytail. I wasn't going to try to impress Cameron. Maybe if I dressed like a guy he wouldn't want me. I pulled my hood up because my eyes were so puffy still. The doorbell rang. I ran down the stairs but I wasn't fast enough. Everyone was in the living room except for Nana. My aunt Tasha was letting Cameron in. Tessa looked me over in disgust. I bristled.

''What are you wearing?'' She scrunched her face at me.

''What I want'' I snapped. I was not in the mood for this crap.

''Girls!'' My nana threatened from the dining room it sounded like.

''Are you ready Jillian?'' Cameron asked as his eyes roamed over my body.

Pervert. ''Ready as I'll ever be'' I said noncommittally.

''Don't bring her back to late'' my mom scolded. It didn't hold much weight, though. It sounded like she was scolding a kitten.

I scowled at them all and trudged towards the door. Cameron put his hand on my lower back to lead me out. Tessa hissed in a breath of air. I turned to look at her to see what was wrong. It sounded like she was in pain. Cameron nudged me out of the door and pulled it shut behind him.

''What is it Tess?'' I heard my mom ask.

I listened intently to hear her answer.

''So you couldn't put a little effort into yourself'' Cameron scoffed. ''Did you purposefully keep yourself up since Wednesday night.''

Tessa was long forgotten.

''Yep'' I popped the P. ''Just to piss you off Mr. Superior. Sorry I don't meet your standards'' I said sarcastically. This was actually therapeutic. I needed to get some anger and aggression out.

''Get in'' he said as he slid into the front seat of his car.

''What a gentleman. Thank you for getting my door'' I said caustically.

''I'll treat you like a lady when you dress and act like one'' he said mockingly.
