Chapter 10

A buzzing sound caught my attention as I rolled over. I tried to pull my covers up but I felt an arm first. I sat straight up my eyes flying open. I was in my clearing and Rory was laying next to me. I smiled to myself. He looked so magnificent sleeping beside me.

The buzzing noise continued. It was Rory's phone. I searched his pockets feeling for it. Rory grabbed my wrist quickly and a bit roughly. I looked down into his eyes. He blinked in surprise and then cursed.

He reached for his phone. "Hello" he answered and then paused. He looked at his phone. "Shit. I'll be right there" he said and hung up. "We have to go we're late" he stood up.

I looked around myself. It was too light out. We had school. How did this happen. I jumped up. "What time is it?"

            "Seven."

"Oh no. . . I'm late." I needed my brain to kick into gear.

Rory laughed at me. "I have to go home, jump in the shower, and get Shawn. I'll pick you up on my way back."

"Um yeah okay." I started to walk away but he grabbed me by my hood and pulled me into his arms. He kissed me but I pulled back and covered my mouth.

"What's wrong?" he asked looking hurt.

"I have to brush my teeth" I mumbled through closed lips.

He laughed and pulled my hand away. I tried to resist but he was so much stronger than me.

"I don't care I want a kiss" he said pulling me to him. I didn't resist for long. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him.

"I love you" I said as I pulled away.

"I love you too" he said with a huge smile on his gace

            "JILLIAN" called my Nana.

Rory and I froze. I looked into his eyes horrified as a smug smirk came onto his face. He moved first grabbing the blanket off of the ground.

"Leave it, we'll get it later" I whispered.

"I know you two are in there. It's okay everyone else is gone" Nana called again.

"I'm coming" I yelled back to her.

Rory pecked me on the lips. "I'll be back soon" he said walking away.

I started running towards my house. How did Nana know Rory was here? I felt grateful that she was on my side. If my mom had known I would be locked in my room for eternity. My brain went to a bad place before I could stop it. I was so much more powerful than my mother. She can't control me anymore. I wasn't going to let her plan my life.

I almost ran into Nana as I exited the trail. I slid to the side before I could knock her over.

"How did you know?" I asked breathlessly.

"You certainly didn't leave for school at five in the morning when I was up."

"How did you know Rory was with me?" I asked in amazement as I followed her into the house.

"I have my ways, dear. Now go get ready" she said shaking her head in amusement.

I showered and dressed in a rush. I threw on camo capris, a brown tank top, and flip flops to match. I pulled my hair up in a ponytail and quickly did my makeup. I grabbed my book bag off the floor and  looked down at my phone on my desk. I hadn't looked at it since Friday night when I called Cam. I was so obsessed over Rory I hadn't thought about it. I had four missed calls from Lauren and a text from Rob. Oh well. I would talk to them later. I threw it in my book bag and  slung it over my shoulder.
