We are now a mile away from the cabin. My feet start to ache; since my doll shoes came off while I was running through the woods. Stepping on twigs, rocks, dirt, and the uneven ground really makes it tougher to walk. Jake still held my hand.

All of a sudden, fatigue striked my whole body. I let go of Jake's hand. My right arm quickly wraps around my stomach and my knees start to bend. I leave my left arm out reaching for the ground, trying not to fall. Next thing I know, I was on my knees. An expression of pain swept over my face.

Jake quickly turns around as soon as he felt my hand loose. He bends down putting his left arm lightly on my back.

"Amber what's wrong?" He looked so worried.

I sat down on the ground and kept my head down, eyes closed. I shake my head then lift my head up, keeping my eyes shut.

"Just tired. I haven't ate anything all day and I-" I open my eyes and a sudden fear crept over me. The next thing I saw haunted me.

I quickly crawl backwards until I bumped onto a tree. Jake. No, it wasn't Jake anymore. A creature with stitched mouth stained with blood and bloodshot eyes sat before me. It looked like it had been crying blood for a year straight that his face was glued to that expression. It crawled to me, slowly. Closer... and closer. I panicked. Adrenaline rushed through my veins. Even though I knew I was stuck, I still tried to crawl back. My body started crawling upwards until I was against the tree. It kept crawling to me with its cat claws and bony hands. Its right hand finally touched my left leg and I shut my eyes tight. Screams escaped my lips.

"No! No! Get away from me!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, still trying to crawl somewhere.

A sudden feeling swept over me. The feeling said "it's all over." This feeling just ran through my head when i felt hands on my shoulder. I knew there was no more escape so I just stopped. I started crying.

"Please let me go." My voice kept shaking. My whole body trembling.

"Amber, look at me. Open your eyes, Amber. You're fine." His voice. It was him.

I quickly opened my eyes and there he was. It was his hands on my shoulder. He stared straight into my eyes with the most worried expression I have ever seen on his face. He also looked... terrified.

A sudden smile. I wrapped my arms around his body holding him close, feeling his body close to mine. He only wore a tank top with a jacket over. I rest my head on his chest. He wraps his arms around my upper body.

"What happened?" I detach my head from his chest to look up at his face. I still kept my arms around him.

He gave me a puzzled look. "You just fell to your knees. You said you were just tired. Then you opened your eyes then looked at me like I was a monster. You just started crawling backwards until you bumped onto this tree. Then you started yelling at me to go away."

"I-I'm so sorry... I-I didn't know what was going on and I guess it's just lack of sleep and maybe I'm daydrea-" I stood there wide-eyed as I felt his soft lips on mine. I close my eyes slowly and started to kiss back.

He pulls away and cupped my right cheek with his left hand. Forehead to forehead, nose to nose.

"Relax." His voice was so soothing.

I blushed. Then smiled shyly. He tilts his head up to kiss my forehead. Then he pulls away slowly. I look up to find him staring straight at me.

His cheeks were a little red. I let out a little giggle and he immediately look to the side, embarrassed.

"Looking to the side won't really hide your red cheeks," I said as I kissed him on the cheek and broke our lock.

He just stood there stunned. I guess he didn't expect I'd kiss him on the cheek; or even kiss back.

"Hey," I tried to pull him back to earth,"why don't we keep going? I'm not that tired anymore."

He finally looked at me and gave me a slight nod. He turned, and started walking slowly. I was a few feet ahead of him so I turned around to hide a smile.

I honestly don't know how this boy could make me smile at a time like this.

I put my hand in a loose fist and touched my lips with the side of my index finger.

Hm, he's not all that bad of a company at all.

I smiled and started walking a few feet ahead of him.
