I opened my eyes. There he was. Jake breathing heavy as if he just ran a marathon. His eyes were filled with tears. His face dirty with mud and tears. He was scared. He seemed like he didn't know what to feel. Sad because he just shot his friend. Angered because she's gone. Frightened because of what she became.

"I-I.." I stuttered.

He started to cry furiously. He broke down and fell on his knees, his face filled with tears. I rushed over to him, avoiding the dead flesh lying on the ground.

I crouched next to him with my right hand on his shoulder.

"Jake?" Tears fell from my eyes.

He pushed my arm away as I said his name.

"What did you do?" He said in a low, deep, furious voice.

"I..I-"

"You killed her! You did this to her!" He looked up at me with teary, angered eyes.

I stood dumbfounded. "Jake how can you say that? She was about to hurt me and you're saying I did this to her?" I said in a weak voice. My hands were trembling and my knees felt weak.

Why does his words even affect me like this?

He stopped crying and his expression went blank.

Jake

"Jake how can you say that? She was about to hurt me and you're saying I did this to her?" She said with a low trembling voice.

Why did you just say that to her. I said to myself. My expression went blank. I just stared at the invisible air. She didn't do anything. What did I just do.

I got up slowly and cautiously reached my arm for her. I had a worried look in my eyes. "Amber.." I started. I did not know what to say.

Tears fell from her beautiful hazel eyes. Her mouth slightly open. Her expression showed fear and surprise.

I slowly and gently touched her arm. I slowly started touching down to hold her hand. When I finally had it in my hands, I looked into her eyes with sincerity.

"Amber. I'm really sorry. I didn't-" I looked for words. "I didn't know what I was saying. I'm just really confused about what just happened.

Her face relaxed. One last teardrop fell from her eyes and her eyes started to dry and rid of the tears. She looked at me compassionately.

Damn she'a beautiful. Even when she's crying. She's actually really... cute.

"I forgive you." I let a out a breath of relief. "Can we just get out of here?" She said as she pulled her hand back and looked away.

"Yes. Of course." My voice sounded pale.
