“Where is he? I heard he was coming in today” Mandy chirped.
"In our group? I think 30 students sweating in this tiny class is enough, no? We don't need a new student" I said.
She gave me her 'Shut Up' look."Hell-O! According to my 'sources', he is GOR-GE-OUS!"
"Oh, okay, yeah. May I ask who or what are those famous 'sources' that you speak of oh so frequently?"
"Secret. Shut up now. Teacher's here." she replied.
I sighed. Just a regular old day in Math class. As Mr. Korb began teaching, I started thinking about the newbie. Only 'gorgeous guys make Mandy go psycho on me. I wonder what he looks like?
Sensing that I was not paying attention, Mandy elbowed me."Dude, pay attention" She whispered. My attention drifted back to the teacher.
"Well class, as you may already know, we have a new student today. Please welcome Andrew McChester."
A 16 year old boy walked in.
If I was the type of person who tends to stereotype, I'd say that Andrew was 'a goth/emo' kind of guy, He has the long black hair, cut Shane Dawson-ish like. From I was sitting, which was 2 seats away, I could see that he was wearing eyeliner. Motley Crüe style, which brought out his pale green eyes. He had a cute face.
“Introduce yourself, Mr. Andrew.” Mr Korb said, and he sat down, observing him. Oh boy, I hope this dude wasn't shy, for his sake. The teacher hates shy people.
“Hello, my name's Andrew McChester, I come from the beautiful city of Montreal” My eyes slightly widened. Just like, I thought “and I look forward to spending this year with all of you.” He smiled a bit. Handsome, indeed.
“Well then, go grab a seat, Mr Andrew” Andrew nodded, and sat in the empty seat next to Mandy. Oh man, she'll be giggling like an idiot the whole class. From the corner of my eye, I saw her writing a note. Here we go. She passed to me. It read:
'Oh my god..! OMG OMG OMG, He's beside me!!!'
I replied 'Yes, I know, Captain Obvious.' I passed it back.
She was scribbling very fast, filled with excitement. This is going to be a pain in the ass. She passed it back again.
‘Should I talk to him? Give him a note too? Say hi? Talk to him? <---I already said that! TELL MEH!’
‘If you’re that desperate, give him a note, Hun. Now leave me alone. Love ya~ Courtz’ That should keep her busy.
She pulled out a fresh page and started writing. I was watching her from the corner of my eye, interested in what will happen.
‘Heyyy Andrew! My name’s Mandy. What’s up? Thank GOD that you passed the shy test!’ She passed it to him discreetly.
He looked surprised, and he opened the note slowly.
He read through it quite quickly, and he wrote maybe 2 words and passed back to her. It read, in a surprisingly neat handwriting ‘Shy test?’
The period went on like that, Mandy answering his never ending questions about the rules of conduct. She was ecstatic.
The bell finally rang. I was walking slowly towards the door, waiting for her.
Mandy started talking to Andrew. “ Soo what class do you have now???”
“Um, enriched English. B2-304.” He replied.
“Oh! I have art right now, but Courtney has your class now. Courtz! Wait!”
I froze. “What?”
“Andrew has English right now, sooo, can he, like, follow you to it?”
Great. Now I have to say yes. “Okay... Sure.”
“Okay, thanks! I got to go now sooo bye Hun! Bye Andrew” Mandy winked at him and left.
Andrew slightly blushed. “Thank you, um...” He started.
“Courtney. Come on, we’ll be late. The bell will ring soon.”
“Okay...” He followed me to my locker. He started to explain. “I don’t have my stuff yet, so-“
“Yeah, I figured.” I interrupted him. Rude, I know, but I’m not big on chit-chat. “Can you look away for a second?”
He nodded and looked away. I opened my locker and took my English stuff and closed my locker quickly.
As you may have noticed, I’m not the kind of person who talks to strangers much, like Mandy. Or even, talk a lot. Particularly cute new male students. I’m comfortable with silence. Andrew, not so much.
“So, have you ever visited Montreal?” He asked.
“I used to live there” I replied as I walked towards my English class.
He followed me. “Really? Cool. Why did you move here?”
“Why did you?” I replied.
“Alright. My mum didn’t like it the big city noise, so we moved here.”
“Same here” I said, trying to avoid a big conversation. Honestly, I don’t remember anything from that place. My mum thinks it’s because there was nothing fascinating about it so I forgot about my stay in there. Which I find quite strange. Why couldn’t I remember anything? I decide not to duel on it so much.
“Oh” Is all he said. Obviously he figured it wasn’t a topic of interest to me, so he changed it, trying to get me to talk. “Um, so how are things here?”
“Quite good” I said, not giving him any details.
(To be continued. My hands are tired T_T)
