The day did not go as planned, because I don't know about Percy, but I didn't plan to get beat up by my step father, smelly Gabe. I also didn't plan for my mother to just stand there crying as he did it. I love my mom to death, but she's...how do I say this in a nice way..she's a push over.

She lets Gabe treat us like trash, and she promises she'll make him leave one minute and the next she's getting him beers and ironing his clothes. And when I ask he about it all she says is "he's been good to us rose. In ways you just don't understand." No, I guess I don't understand. I don't understand how she could stay with him after what he did to us, to ME, to Percy, her children. But she did, and then she acted like nothing ever happened. Smelly Gabe made me quit school last year because I kept showing up with bruises and people were noticing, asking questions, and making Gabe mad.

Percy does his best to keep me away from Gabe but he's only one person and HE actually has to got to school. Once he tried to skip and stay with me, but i, being the great big sister I am, ripped him a new one. He never skipped tried to skip again I'll tell you that. But I'm getting off topic. Where was I? Oh yeah, I was getting the snot beat out of me by a grown man. All I did was tell Gabe no and now I'm on the floor with a busted lip and a bloody nose.

Gabe drew his foot back and kicked me again, and I swear I heard something crack. Mom, being mom, sat there and sobbed, begging him to stop. This only made him madder, which resulted in him yanking me up be my hair and slamming my head against the wall. Black spots dotted the edge of my vision and I moaned, clawing at anything my hands could find. I heard Gabe grunt as my nail dug into his arm. Good, I thought as he wrapped his hands my throught and began screaming about how worthless I was, you deserve to be in pain, heck you deserve a whole lot more Gabriel. Suddenly I was flying across the room and into my moms glass coffee table. After that, multiple things happened at once. The door burst open and Percy and grover car tumbling into the house. I was barely aware of my mom kneeling beside me, scooping my head into her lap, sobbing into my hair. Grover kicked smelly Gabe where he sun doesn't shine with his crutches and Percy rushed over to me and mom, talking so fast I could barely understand him. The only thing I caught was
"Camp half-blood" before everything went black and I drifted off into endless oblivion.
