Washington D.C. 2002.
After a scrutinizing four day interview with Doug Pratt, CIA Executive Human Resources and the House Intelligence Committee, and an exhaustive online interview with resume, Dade had passed all security clearances.
"Are you ready for this procedure because you will be one of a kind as a tool for espionage.?"
"Yes."
"After being completely knocked unconscious, a 14 hour surgery ensued that embedded more than a chip into Dade's head. An entire operating system greater than any known mainframe was planted. Dade could now flawlessly speak any language including Portuguese and even Amazonian dialects. He was no longer in control. Yet he felt perfectly fine. Normal. Better than ever.
His mission was simple: infiltrate the drug cartels that funneled cocaine from Peru and Bolivia to European markets via Sao Paulo and Rio de Janiero. Literally annilhilate any persons. The funny thing is that Dade did not know this was his mission. The OS contained a GPS that was controlled and even guided his thoughts. He also had martial arts and weapons training that was downloaded. Dade became the living embodiment of passing mind over body.
Then his mind went blank. He re-awakened back home in Detroit. Wondering if he had dreamed anything. He was hungry for bacon. Very hungry.
Time passed. Dade worked on becoming a librarian. All seemed normal. Then as he finished graduate school he began searching for jobs. One job he noticed was to work in the famous
Fundação Biblioteca Nacional. The team at Langley had found their door and began directing Dade..flawlessly.
Soon Dade had packed his bags and sold all he had. He was ready.
"Are you sure you want to go there, son?" Dade's dad asked.
"Yes Dad. There is nothing here. "
It had been three years since Thais had passed away. Dade still had fond memories. He also remembered their quarrel. "The truth hurts sometimes, Dade, Thais told him. He admired her honesty as well as lusted after her body. He still remembers her yelling: "Oi Geito! Get over here! I am so damn tired! Vamos el cine!" She loved movies and books.
Who knows he might find someone new. After all he was entering a world where God existed as a Brazilian. "Deus es brasilerio, amor," Thais would always say.
Flawless. Absolutely flawless.
