The next morning Jake and Brandon came to the motel room and asked Carly why the hell she was scared that one of them were going to die. Carly had read out the note and Brandon had turned pale. Jake was used to this kind of shit but that didn't mean he wasn't concerned. While the three tried to figure out who sent the note, they got a visit from Hayley."Listen," She said annoyed, I'm sorry for flipping out but, guys, i know that book is bad news-"
She cut off suddenly and noticed the three were wearing worried expressions then she saw the book was open and that Carly held a note.
"You fucking opened it!" Hayley said, her face turning a bit red, " And what does that note say."
She took the note out of Carly's hand and read it. She then dropped it on the ground and shook her head.
" I hate to say this but i told you so. actually i love to say that."
"Maybe we should just stop," Brandon said rising from his chair. " Or at least i'm going to stop because we are dealing with demons and we already had to many close calls and now, this note, is the cherry on the cake."
" I think he's right," Jake added " i don't deal with demons and yesterday i got a job from my boss, i need to stop fooling around, its been weeks and we never found nothing, i'm done."
Carly stayed silent as her allies talked, they had lives they needed to get back to, she gave them that but they were close and she knew it she just needed a little more time, why else would they get a note saying to stay away, she was onto something but she never said this to her friends because she knew what they'll say.
" Well, that's three against one," Hayley piped up, " So whats it gonna be then Carly?"
"I'll stop, okay," Carly said grimly. "Go back to your lives, see if i care, you guys never had my back to begin with, i'll leave this god forsaken town and go back to clearing the world of monsters, i'll leave you guys alone, is that what you want to hear."
"Carly, we're sorry-"
" I don't want to hear it, i'll get out of your hair, i don't want to be the reason one of you die."
"Well boo hoo, you always were the one who gave up easily, you're weak, a wimp." Hayley said sharply but with a smile.
Oh if only she knew.
Carly looked at the boys and they looked like they agreed, they put the cold expression on their faces and left without another word. But Hayley still remained.
" Now what to do want." Carly sharply spit out at the girl dressed in the black.
Hayley laughed coldly. "Some people never change." She also left and slammed the door shut.
Carly never moved, she almost wanted to smile. She thinks she won, Carly thought. They all thought she was pissed and that she was going to leave. But oh they were clueless, Hayley was wrong, I, Carly thought, no she knew, Carly was never one to give up. She was to close to give up now. All of them were weak for leaving and giving up but she sure as hell wasn't. It was going to take a hell of a lot more than a note for her to back off.
"Now," Carly said to herself, " To get that knife, and i'll be golden."
This was probably going to be dangerous, the demons most likely knew about the knife so the museum was probably full of demons but Carly was determined to get it, this was going to make her life a hell of a lot easier. No back up, but maybe they might come back once they find out she never left. Maybe deep down they were still the same people she knew ten years ago. Maybe. But for now she was alone again and in this life of hunting, the only person you could every trust was yourself.
Carly got to work on her plan, she was going to leave late tommrow night, and she hoped that the weapons she had were enough and that her cuts would heal quickly after a good sleep. She realized she never slept every since she came back from the warehouse with the excitement from the book and the knife she never realized that she was on the brick of sleep.
So Carly climbed into the old motel bed and fell to sleep quickly, Even though it was early in the morning. Hayley's words went through her head once more before darkness took over. A wimp? Maybe. But she was a fighter and in this life, that's all you needed to survive.
