Hello guys!  I'd like to start this off by thanking you for 100+ reads!  To everyone who has supported the book so far, thank you very much.  Secondly, I'm writing this authors note because this one shot is actually a poem.  I'm unsure of the responses I'll get, but I thought I'd give it a try.  In this poem, Dan is a hostile artist and Phil is a lover of art.... please enjoy!

Chapter 5: Purple

Word Count: 310

Monochrome art,
Yet Dan sees the world in colors and shades.
Grunge cigarettes,
Accompanied by blue moon nights.

Grey,
His smoke and his thoughts.
But to Phil,
An enticing shade of red.

Raven hair,
January was the color of Phil's skin.
True beauty,
Determined to give a broken man a reason to care.

Grey,
His life and his dreams.
But to Dan,
A whimsical shade of blue.

So they met,
And love bled like drunken water colors and pastels.
All was perfect,
When love met destruction.

Dan painted,
Told Phil he was the prettiest blue he'd ever seen.
Blue,
It became his favorite color that day.

Conventional vision,
Phil wanted to see Dan in color too.
With quick thought,
He picked up an ivory canvas.

He began,
And dipped his brush into burning flames.
Who knew,
The stroke of paint could inflict so much pain.

Shaky hands,
He tried to see with an mahogany view.
Scarlets and crimsons,
He began to see the world in color too.

Blue and Red,
Cool waves crash into a burning inferno.
New love,
Erupt with purple shades of a broken romance.

Lavender skies,
Came from the two that were red and blue.
Phil fell for purple,
But Dan realized that he didn't want that too.

So from fiery reds and charming blues
Came a violet disaster as Phil asked,
"Do you see the colors, too?"
