Waiting.
I knocked on the door again, shifting my weight from one foot to another.
"Where the fuck is he?" I mumbled to no one in particular. I knocked again, GIR answered.
"Hi Mary!" The robot dog said-yelled.
"Hello, GIR." We stood for a second.
"Uh- can I come in? Is Zim home?" I try to look through the door. No Zim. GIR held my hand, and lead me through the house, stomping on all the items in his way.
"He's down there!" GIR pointed down the toilet. I smiled
"Can you go get him?" GIR nodded frantically
"YESSIR!" Then down the toilet he went. I rocked back and forth on my heels, waiting for Zim to appear. When he did come out from the toilet, putting in his left contact, I gave him an awkward wave. "Hey. Nice weather we're having, right?" Zim looked at me.
"Dib, it's like, 40 degrees out." I laughed hastily. "My bad." Zim hummed.
"I, uh- you weren't at school today, any reason why?" Zim thought for a second. "Didn't wanna." Was his response. I shrugged, and walked over to Zim's couch and sat down. Then I motioned for Zim to come sit next to me, but instead, he decided it was a better idea to sit in my lap, not that I cared. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I buried my head into his shoulder. "I love you." I mumbled. Zim made an 'mhm' noise, but didn't say anything else. I lifted my head off his shoulder and shifted so we were face to face. I started kissing random parts of his face, in which he swatted me away.
"Aw, c'mom Zim!" I teased. He only stuck out his tongue in a mocking manner. I huffed. Rude. I tried getting up after that, but Zim clung on to me, his arms hooked around my shoulders for dear life, and his legs straddled around my waist to keep from falling. I laughed, but didn't push him off. Instead I walked around the house with him hanging off my body. I grabbed a bag of chips. "Want some?" Zim didn't reply, but instead opened his mouth indicating that he did, in fact, want food. So I did what anyone would do and shoved a decent amount in his mouth. Zim let out a grunt as he let go and fell to the floor, holding half the chips in his hand.
"Dib stink, I have lived here long enough to know that that is not the proper way to eat chips." I sat down on the floor next to him and handed him the bag.
"I know, I'm sorry. I love you." And so Zim looked at me, and leaned in so our foreheads were touching, and I closed the gap, wrapping My arms around his neck and pulling us closer together. Zim raked his fingers through my hair, and tugged, which resulting in me falling, on top of him. I laughed. "Ooh, feisty!" He shrugged, as best as he could being pinned down at least, then yanked my head back down, lips connecting, once again entangling his fingers in my hair. Zim opened his mouth a bit, but before things could progress further, GIR came running in. And so that resulted in Zim pushing me off him, sitting up, and acting as if nothing had happened, when something definitely did. Then the green teen stood up and re-adjusted his wig, given the circumstances, and walked to GIR.
"What is it, GIR?" He sighed. The robot pulled a cupcake out of his head. "I got you a cupcake." He said, nudging Zim, cupcake in hand. Xim pushed the cupcake away.
"No GIR, I don't want your cupcake." Which I guess was the wrong answer, since GIR then screamed his head off until Zim had enough and took the cupcake from him to shut him up. When Zim tried taking a bite, he immediately gagged and spit it out.
"GIR! What did you put in this?" He shrieked.
GIR thought for a moment.
"I found some eggs! Oh oh, and I got some brown stuff that an old man offered me! And some hair." Zim screamed, and rushed to find something that would get rid of the taste, since water obviously wasn't an option. He decided on the chips that were long forgotten on the floor. While this event was happening, I stood, and I thought, and I laughed. I laughed, because it's these moments that bring bright color into my life. A variety of colors. A variety of feelings.
Bliss.
Love.
Joy.
I went over and hugged Zim from behind, who was still fusing over the shit that had ended up in his mouth. When he noticed my presence, he rested his hands on top of mine. My smile grew wider. "I love you, so, so much, Zim, it hurts." He turned to look at me, and for a quick moment, I could see guilt in his eyes, but it vanished a split second later.
"I know." He said as he leaned in closer. I put my hand to his mouth.
"Fuck no, you probably just ate shit, I'm not kissing you until that taste is gone." Zim whined, but gave in anyways. So instead, we stood there. Hugging. Rocking side to side.Everything is going to be okay.
