It was a bright and sun day, until my mom walked in.
"Sutton, get off your phone. It's summer vacation, go see your friends and Carson!"
See what I mean?
Not so sunny anymore.
I was perfectly content until she waltzed in here thinking she owned the place.
I didn't even look up at her or acknowledge her, just stared at my phone.
"I'll take this."
Just like that, my phone was gone.
And so was my summer, for the next day my mom dropped the bomb on me.
"Sutton, I had so much fun at this camp when I was your age. So I'm going to have you go and have fun, make new friends, maybe get rid of Carson." My mom trailed off.
"Mom, I know you don't like Carson but he's my boyfriend, so you're going to have to deal with it." I rebuttal.
"You know, when I went to this camp," here she goes again with the whole 'I met my first love at this camp and just want you to have the same thing and grow old together in a seven bedroom house in the countryside of Oklahoma thing.
"Mom, I get it, you met him and you were in love. But why do you want me to go?"
"So you get of the house. Go pack up, here's a list of stuff you need, you get on the bus in Fargo at nine-thirty Monday morning."
Monday?
That's two days away!
"Oh and you'll be there for three weeks. You'll have fun. Your cousin Josie is going too."
"The one from Scranton?" I say confusedly.
"Yep the very one, now chip-chip."
That's my moms phrase for when ever she wants either pork chop or Sherpa boy or I to get moving.
Pork Chop and Sherpa boy are my ten and thirteen year old brothers, Chad and Shawn. We call Chad Pork Chop because he's only ten years old and already weighs more than a hockey player Shawn who legitimately eats potatoes and burgers everyday. Shawn is Sherpa boy because he wears this fluffy sweatshirt that looks like a Sherpas coat.
"Chip, chip Sutton," My mom says more angrily this time," you can use your phone until Monday as long as you are packed up by tomorrow morning."
She hands me my phone and I rush to my room to text my friends about this unfortunate turn of events.
My mom is forcing me 2g2 a stupid camp for 3 weeks. HLP!!
Right away, Kate texted me back.
Katie Gurrllll
Y? Has she gone mad?
Then Jade
Jadennnnnnn
I'm coming over
Finally Carson
Hottie with a body
When do you leave?
My mom walked in the exact second I picked my phone up to answer Carson,"Busted. Phone. Now."
A look of reluctancy washed over me as I slow reached up from my sitting position on the wooden flooring to give my phone to my mom.
"Now look at the list and pack everything you need. Here is a bag." She threw an extra large roller bag in my direction and left.
